Atomiswave anyone?

I'd offer but with dreamcast having over 300 games I do not feel like making entry's in an INI for all games.

I dont understand what you mean? You select the gdr image plugin then just select the iso you want then run it... Its not like when you load a Atomiswave or naomi game where there is that list to select from... Its just like loading a iso on pcsx2 in the plugin and loading it up and running it... Im going to post on the demul forums and see if they have any command lines for the emulator yet.

Thanks very much, that Super!

I've amended the following 2 lines to how it hopefully would work for Naomi providing I create a new settings1.ini in the Demul Dir for Naomi roms,

Please could you check it over for me when you get chance.... I'm no pro at scripting thats for sure. Once I sort it out I'll post the .ini file

incase anyone else requires it.

Cheers!! :)

IniRead, num_down, %A_WorkingDir%\settings1.ini, %RomName%, Down_Count, 0

Send, {ALTDOWN}f{ALTUP}{DOWN}{ENTER}

Oh don't forget that some Naomi games especially Naomi 2 games like Virtua Fighter 4 require the jap bios. I'm not sure if that script will switch bios or not.

You could probably run multiple versions of Demul each one with a different bios version, the loader and .ini file would still be usable if placed in each Demul Dir.

Then maybe group the Demul emulators together in the Advanced Config so you'd just have 1 Demul menu in GameEX. It would prob mean sorting each rom into the specific Demul Dir which is running the appropriate bios.

There's probably an easier way, just an idea.

An easier way would be to open up DEMUL and set the Bios to JPN reigon, Then save the config file DEMUL makes for itself, call it JAPAN.cfg. Then do the same for the american bios, call it USA.CFG

Then create an INI

[vf4evo]

system = Naomi

Reigon= Japan

Have the loader read the INI and depending on the region have the config copied and renamed before it launches demul. So that way it will always launch the correct bios with each game.

Make since? kinda? maybe? just a thought.

Hm sort of lost on this one Brian :lol: I select the correct bios in Demul. It's not a cfg file though it's an ini unless I rename that Demul.ini to Demul.cfg?

Also I'm kind o flost on how to create a Naomi loader from the source. I mainly wanted to use Demul for Virtua Fighter 4 and a few others games that don't seem to run in the other emulators. Though as of 0.5.5 VF4 does run pretty well with the exception of the audio being kind of choppy :P

Its cool, It really doesnt matter what the name of the file or the extention is, the point was to create two of them each using a diffrent bios, then depending on the game have it copy the correct config to the working config.

If I get some time I can whip one up, I may be interested in VF4, there's a good chance of me writing one up if it is useful to me. :)

Ah, that sounds good! I might give it a shot. Though by all means feel free to whip one up :D

There is no such thing as a stupid question.

With that said download the emu attached to my post for the answer.

I did attach a couple screens too

Brian, you should consider putting a copyof the loaders that you have been posting lately into the stickied comfigs thread.

Btw - You didn't really make me cry, I was just messing with you. See how it feels? wink.gif

Shoule be Demul_Loader.exe [rom]

I think...

:unsure:

Thanks for your fast reply Brian!

For some reason it didn't work the first time I tried it, but its working great now! Thanks so much for this great loader, it works nice. The two problems I'm having now is that most of the games seem to crash after a few minutes, and that the games on the game list are the rom names, not the game name. Do you have any suggestions for settings that will help with this?

btw, If you are thinking of doing a Namoi loader for this emu I would definitely be interested in it.

Thanks!

i think it is the emu, I do not know how to fix it, or how many others have this issue, for me it is a show stopper and I am waiting for a fix too.

Thanks Brian.

One last question, is there a way to get the game names to show on the GX list instead of the rom names?

Thanks

  • 3 weeks later...

I decided to get AtomisWave setup today and after I got that all going, many thanks for your loader Brian, I decided to give the Naomi support a try but I must be overlooking something obvious cause I can't control some games...

I tried GigaWing 2 and it's working fine but although both PowerStone games and Zombie Revenge seem to be running perfectly I can't insert any coins to start playing

Anyone else have this trouble?

I'm running Demul 0.5.5 build 271

Thanks

Stu

I'm having the same problems with some games, some just one credit works, others can't add credits at all. I'm also losing the sound in some games after a level or two. I am really hoping that someone is able to write up a launcher for the Naomi end of this emu in GameEx. There is a launcher available in the Demul forum, but it says that it doesn't work with GameEx.

Ya, while I have not had problem with inserting coins, I have had problems with the emulator randomly crashing. That puts me off from writing a naomi loader. I use Makaron from naomi emulation and it works very well.

In regards to the other loader I cannot see why it wouldn't work with gameex, unless it was sabotaged to not work with gameex. EG looks for the gameex process and fails to run. I believe it is authored by a user named nologic. So I wouldn't put it past him.

I will look into the Demul side of naomi, It should be fairly straight forward. Can anyone tell me why Demul is better than makaron? Or NullDC both emulators already work in gameex and are quite compatable.
