Tom Speirs
Hi,Is there anyone testing windows 7 that can test something for me please?I need to see if UAC acts the same way as in vista. Can someone please test the folowing? Id appreciate itMake sure UAC is on.Install GameEx changing the install folder to C:\GameEx (ie must be root of drive)Does it seem to work ok without issues or UAC popups? Does the setup wizard launch ok and work at the end of the install (last page) where it says configure gameex now?Thanks.Tom.EDIT: You might need this slightly modified setup to install to the root:http://www.gameex.com/-uac-/gameexsetup.exe
Mayhem
It acts the same as windows and block rom's from being scanned ect ect . you need to disable it to run most stuff. Just tested it out today on my new build.Basicly works but when scanning for new roms does not work. UAC kicks in and stops it.I installed to a spare drive h:\ to test with normal game ex. then just over written the settings with my own custome ones. The only problem i had was no abilty to reg it. but thats not a problem as of yet.I cannot test it again as i removed windows 7 now and put windows vista 64 bit on insted as most of my drivers dont ork correctly and my LCD was a no show on it. Tom Speirs
When installing to H:\ with UAC on Did the setup wizard run on the last page of the install screen, or did you get an error?EDIT: Can I get another report please. Need to test exactly as asked. Cheers.
RiPuk
Hi mate, I'll check this out tomorrow when I get a minute. FYI UAC in Windows 7 is very different to Vista - there are UAC 'levels', similar to the security levels in Internet Explorer. This article discusses it in some depth, but may go some way to explaining the levels and what they do. http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Exp...ontrol-UAC.htmlHope this helps!Dave---David Stephensd:constructed Ltd
