utena10jou
Hi all newbie here. I setup Gamex and all the mame 0.209 directories within Game ex and I am getting this error "HRESULT: [0x8876086C], Module: [Unknown], ApiCode: [Unknown/Unknown], Message: Unknown". Any help in figuring out what is wrong will be appreciated. Tom Speirs
Make sure you got all the latest drivers installed. If not you may need a more powerful video card.

I am running mame 0.209 on older hardware. It is a limitation of my on board video. I did install an older version of Gamex which launches but hangs up while reading the listinfo.dat. Still stuck. Draco1962
2 GB if RAM is a recommended minimum for Windows 7 64 bit per Microsoft. In my experience, 4 GB is fine for moderate use, but with an add-on GPU as it allows video to use the GPU RAM and less of the shared RAM on the motherboard. Adding more RAM to your system may alleviate the issues using the integrated GPU, however, I've seen better results leveraging an add-on GPU with a few GB of video RAM. I am using an older hp desktop that I was going to toss which I turned into my mame bartop. It uses ddr2 memory so its pretty old intel chip and mb. As I have a new laptop. Call me cheap :) but I don't feel like investing in an old system. I did consider buying a video card to install but decided against it. I would have to get a pcie gen 1 video graphics card!!. Prehaps I may find them used cheap but decided not to spend the additional time on it.
Draco1962
Understood. There comes a point of diminished returns trying to search for more obsolete kit to keep the rest of the obsolete kit running. Got the t-shirt for that one. Just out of curiousity, have you tried installing the latest 32-bit version over the top of your current installation? I searched and came across this page https://softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/315810/is-there-a-good-reason-to-run-32-bit-software-instead-of-64-bit-on-64-bit-machin Benefits of 32-bit software in 64-bit environments Lower memory footprint, especially in pointer-heavy applications, 64-bit vs 32-bit can easily double the memory requirements. Object files are smaller as well. Compatibility with 32-bit environments. Memory leaks are hard capped to 2 GB, 3 GB, or 4 GB and won't swamp the entire system. It may be worth the try. No additional cost anyways other than time.
