djcrazywibb
Hello, I'm a newbie and am currently having issues getting the pre-loaded games to play (Star Trek, etc...) I did the default install instructions but everytime I hit the 'Enter' to play the game a loading script comes up then it goes back to the game selection wheel. Any assistance is appreciated. I looked through the other entries and noticed that folks asked to see the .ini files and the logs, so attaching for reference. djcrazywibb
XML attached as well. Also, I'm using the 3.59 version download. Note: before building a cab, I'm testing it on a desktop, so I am only running a single monitor for the test. Not sure if not connecting a second monitor could be my issue. Mike_da_Spike
I don't see any tabel launch in your logfile, and dont see a reference to the xml you posted. Did you use gamemanager to setup your tables?
djcrazywibb
First, thank you for the quick reply. currently the only games are the ones that came with the installer... Star Trek, Big Game, and Road Kings... I haven't done any additional setup on game manger yet. I've attached images of the game manager, as well as 2 Print Screen Images for what happens when I hit play game. Thanks again.
djcrazywibb
crap.. I think you just answered my question. I feel like an idiot. I assumed that the visuals that came with the installer would include the actual games. Now that I'm actually reading my screenshots thoroughly I can definitely see an issue. Thank you and sorry as I think I may have wasted your time. Will do a little more research and try again.
GAH1068
DJ - Correct it only comes with the sample media so you see what it looks like in PBX. You can delete the games from your Game Manager and then add what you want from there.
djcrazywibb
Making progress, but curious if I'm missing something else now. I've imported media pack, table, b2s, and rom... The game manager is now telling me that there are no missing dependencies. updated files attached below. thanks again. Outhere
Is this file in your VP folder --> Pinball_9_0_2.exe
Mike_da_Spike
As outhere mentioned. You try to launch a vpx table with pinball_9_0_2.exe C:\Visual Pinball\VPinball_9_0_2.exe /play -"C:\Visual Pinball\Tables\Spiderman (stern 2007).vpx". This should be VPinballx.exe
djcrazywibb
Thanks. Yet again the forum has led me to the answer. The exe wasn't fully qualified in the PinballX Settings. Once I added "C:\Visual Pinball\" to the front of it it worked. Since you guys have been so awesome at helping me figure things out, figured I'd ask another one. I've connected the PC to my HDTV and a second monitor for the backglass. Now when I play portrait I can play the game. When I hit the "Use Always FS Backdrop settings" to switch it to landscape the game stops working. It will Still let me pull the plunger, but it won't load the ball when I hit enter. Also when I change that setting I get an error (image below).

Make pictures and put your adventure of building the cab on this forum somewhere. Draco1962
Welcome and glad to see you have several startup issues sorted. That said, I have the thread set for a scheduled lock. Going forward, it is recommended that you note in a separate thread per issue the version of PinballX and the issue with pertinent details an your pinballx.ini and log.txt files attached to your thread for review. Again, welcome to our community, you are off to a good start!
