Please Help! Getting Fatal Error...

Hello All,

I just built my first Visual Pinball Cab last week and decided to with Pinballx as my front end. Very sweet!! (so thank you for such an awesome program)

Everything has been working great and I've been so happy. I decided to add Nudge and went with the Kl25z board and mjr's software. I plugged the board in which read as a joystick launched my 1st game and wow I had nudge. My cab was now that much cooler!!

I launched my 2nd game and bam, got a fatal Error. So I tried again same results . So long story short I have it narrowed down to a Pinballx issue. see below:

1) If I disconnect this board from USB everything works as it should via pinballx

2) once I connect it, launch pinballx I can only launch 1 game. Once I exit the table and launch another I get fatal errors until I close pinballx and come back in.

3) To rule out VP....I've launched VP without using pinballx and I have no issues. I can play exit and play another and never get any errors.

4) to rule out board , I've connect a ps2 usb joystick and I get the same results. I can only load 1 game via pinballx and then get the fatal error.

5) I was running version 2.61 and just updated to 2.64 tonight hoping that would fix it. Nope.

Can someone please please help?

Specs

Asus ROG i7, gforce 760ti, win 10, pinballx 2.64 (now) VP 995 , 2 screen setup.

Thank you!!PinballX.ini

Hey Topache,

I'm actually running MJR's full expansion boards and his pinscape software without issue for quite awhile.  It's odd that you're having issues with it, my guess is something else is conflicting.  What are the fatal errors you're getting? it would help to know what they say, maybe screenshot them?

topache - What does the fatal error say when you try to launch the game a second time? Similar to you, I'm getting a rom error in the same way you are. PinballX launches any table fine the first time after PinballX startup. The second time I try to start a table, I get a rom error, and will continue to get rom errors for any table I try to launch. I also have a KL25Z board set up as nudge.

1st thank you so much for the replies!!!!!!

Funkyman...sorry I should've included that in my 1st post.. I'm getting... Fatal error: HRESULT 88760868 at RenderDevice.ccp:284 every 2nd launch of a table from a fres start of pinballx. Again does not happen when board is unplugged.

Mnhotrod...when I use vpx via pinballx (I have a few tables, not sure how I feel about the gameplay on it yet vs vp9, whole other topic, gotta get my nudge working 1st, lol) I get the same error as you  (saw your post on another thread). 1st launch good 2nd I get cannot find rom even though it just played fine, lol. Then i go back in and I have to resize and re-position the dmd. This does not happe with the board unplugged.

No problem, not sure if it's helpful but I found this:

Seems like lowering the textures in Visual Pinball will do the trick! Good Luck, hopefully it's related!

Tom,

I'm hoping you can help me with another issue I'm having.  I didn't create a new thread because I'm getting the exact same error as topache was getting.

After I rebuilt my VP environment and updated to version 2.73 of PinballX, I'm getting the same error as topache. Namely,  Fatal error: HRESULT 88760868 at RenderDevice.ccp:284. And what is strange is that it only occurs with non-VPX tables. The first non-VPX table works great within PBX, but as soon as I try and launch a second non-VPX table from PinballX, I get the error.

What is strange is that I can still run VPX tables just fine. My PBX setup is configured to run multiple VP versions (aka VP921, VP995, VPPM5, and VPX tables).  I have tried the suggestion others have posted about lowering the textures setting in Visual Pinball, but that doesn't seem to help on my system.  Plus, before I rebuilt my environment, I had never encountered this problem before so I'm pretty sure it isn't a hardware related issue.  I have changed nothing in my hardware setup (or operating system) since re-building.

I have a 4-monitor setup to take advantage of topper videos and/or the new PopUp add-on being developed.  Any suggestions I can try?

The PBX log file doesn't show anything odd. But when you try and run the second table, you get the fatal error which kicks you back into PBX interface. I have attached my log file just in case it helps.

EDIT (Problem Resolved!):  I saw that a few version of PBX (2.81) was released. So after upgrading to the new version, I don't get the error any more on any of my tables!  Thanks for your continued support with PBX.  It truly is a great front-end.
