[RESOLVED] Little help. Table launching.

Recommended Posts

I'm stumped on this one. I'm loading tables to PinballX by the Game Manager.

Everything seems to be going fine and I test launch each table from the Game Manager screen and all is good.

Problem is when I start PinballX I attempt to open a table, but it punts me back to the front end. So I open it again and it opens and plays as normal, but the first time the table did load, so the table opens twice, but only takes me to the second table.

I hope this makes sense, not sure why it won't let me play the first open table.

Cheers, BV3.

Thank you Kustom Kid for pointing me in the right direction.

I'll follow the link and include the files and copy & paste.

I have no topper. It is a 3 monitor cabinet, 1 playfield, 2 backglass and 3 DMD (LCD). I'm running Windows 10. I only have VPX 10.3 beta 3088 in my build, no other emu's.

One question I do have is do I need to uncheck the "Hide DMD" and "Hide Backglass" in Game Manager?

Thank you.

I would start by making sure all exe files related to your setup (this includes both VP and PinballX) are set to run as administrator. Many users install VP and  PinballX in the root of C: drive rather than Program Files to overcome issues related to User Access Control.

Also, make sure all dll files are unblocked. There are a lot of dll files. Easiest thing might be to uninstall VP and PinballX. Copy the installers somewhere to your C drive. Make sure the installers are unblocked and set to run as administrator. And then re-install this time with file locations in the root of C drive rather than in C:\Program Files (x86)\

This may be the solution for you, but if not then it at least it rules out issues related to Windows UAC.

Use this as quicker method to unblock your dll's.

As suggested make sure all .exe's are set to run as administrator

move your pinballx folder and visual pinball to root C:

Always run your tables outside of pinball X first directly from the emulator, and ensure they boot and play as expected.  If the table has any errors PBX will kick you back to select screen.

Also make sure if you are testing from Game manager, make sure all of the instances of the emulator are closed before launching from PBX, you might have multiple instances of VPX open.  You must close those out or it won't work.

Thanks Carney & rablack97 I will do that.

All the tables work before I started PinballX, but I didn't check the dll's for pinballX nor did I have everything set to run as administrator (just vpx.exe).

All instances were closed prior, this is how I found out that I was opening games in PinballX but they weren't appearing until I played the table the second time (and subsequently tried to close it).

I'm sure it will just be an oversight but I'll keep digging. Thanks for your tips and I'll try them tonight. Cheers, blackvulcan3.

Thanks again guys, checked the dll's they were fine and I opened up the folder permissions in PinballX. Once I did that Dr Dude worked first time. Then I was able to load ACDC. Pretty happy with that.

The log showed that instead of having access denied after vpauto line it went straight to VPX Full Screen exclusive mode detected.

Thanks for the help guys. Many thanks.
