I have a feeling it is all hard-coded, although I am fairly sure the font of the keyboard itself is tied to the title font. I remember having trouble with this a while ago. Remember though that the ori-GameEx theme editor was put in as a bonus, and look what members have achieved with it! As for Evo i don't know, but watch the vid in slo-mo... there are shadows, outlines, gradients! That's enough for me and as far as i know, the devs are still going full leather since.
