[RESOLVED] Game ex and mame category

Does someone know how to set category game?

Basically all categories in MAME are derived from a file called catver.ini. Pretty much all of the good sources for that file are blocked at my current location, but if you google "catver.ini", you'll find a number of available sources. For best results, you'll want to be sure that your catver.ini matches your version of MAME. Customiziing the catver.ini is not the most straight forward affair, but if you're interested in doing so I'd recommend taking a look at the following thread:

Custom catver.ini

How to integrate catlist? Thanks

In order to integrate a different version of catver.ini into GameEx, you would simply enter your catver.ini file path into the Catver ini Location field found on the MAME Settings in the Setup Wizard. Good luck!

At the risk of sounding self referential check out this part again: :)

In order to integrate a different (or custom) version of catver.ini into GameEx, you would simply enter your catver.ini file path into the Catver ini Location field found on the MAME Settings in the Setup Wizard.

(And you'd probably want to leave the name just as catver.ini)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question?

It's a setting in the MAME options that nP just pointed you towards. Have a look around at the different filters. There are several for adult, mahjong, casino, etc.

No.

And to be honest you're probably better off using a favorites file if you're looking to add another category. Search the forums for mame favorites.ini

I can't provide one because I'm at work at the moment. But it would be a lot cleaner that way.

Sorry my friend, but you are going to have to roll up your sleeves and learn how to do this for your self with the instructions provided. While there is a great deal provided to you already in the way of content, custom lists are something you need to learn how to do tailored to your needs.
