venomlace
I'm currently running GameEx on my main PC but am looking to build a cabinet in the near future. I've been looking at using Raspberry Pi to power my cabinet because it's cheaper, smaller, and uses less power.Just wondering if anyone here has tried it out yet. Thanks! Tom Speirs
If you want to run GameEx and games well you should look at a SFF PC instead.
DietCoke
You need Windows first, and the Raspberry Pi is not going to run that. While admirable, there is no way you'll get from here to there using that approach.
thurmansevolution
One thing you could try (I've done this for my driving cab, which had little room for the PC) - as Tom mentioned earlier, look for a SSF PC. Once ya get one, strip it down and mount all the essential hardware (motherboard, power supply, etc) to a small cut out section of MDF board. Also, you could use a hard drive out of a laptop, which is physically smaller in size. You would have to be careful, but if space is an issue, this usually does the trick :-)
ehuonder
I have to agree that the Raspberry Pi is not a viable platform for GameEx. It's questionable for just the games... I have tried RetroPie, and it doesn't run well on the Pi... I'm sure that the recently released v.2 Pi is more powerful, but still unsure if it really runs games at an acceptable speed (I don't have one to test it on). Adultery
My v2 handles RetroPie just fine... Not n64 though.
u-man
look at this offer: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00J2CCDAC?qid=1424740205&sr=8-152$ for a Mini-Itx... i dont see any reason for a Pi or Pi2 based project for emulation.... from my point of view, Pi is a Geek-fun-project, but nothing serious in the world of emulation. Adultery
That's exactly why my wife bought it for me... It's a fun little toy and there's a ton of ways it can be used.
