Real PinMAME DMD in PinballX - Beta Attached

If your getting a BSOD its likely some other issue.

PS: That's not a helpful report either.

The stable 1.85 is fine, on all yesterday and no issues. The beta from earlier ran fine too (EDIT unstable on my system too). I've only just got my cab up and running so I'm behind with what info you need, I checked the log and everything started fine.

Update

I'll stay at 1.85, smooth as can be for me :)

I'll let you guys who know what you're doing try out the betas.

So far, RC - 2014/08/17 4:10PM EST works really well for me. I mainly did a thorough testing of the earlier RC from around noon today. I had to go in and check Use Sounds for the few tables where I assigned ROMs back in Friday's RC, I think. The ROMs I assigned last night work fine. So, I believe these were just issues left over from earlier.

One difference I did notice is that the ROMs insert coin sound on WPC tables has much less volume than before. Once you start a game the volume is fine.

High Roller Casino I use a custom DMD width and height. I think there is an emulation issue with some of the Stern Whitestar games where if I have ddraw turned off the display has the wrong aspect ratio. Not bad. Just a bit squashed. I notice that the preview is squashed but starting a game I have my custom definition. So, well done. I know that the registry settings are not getting overwritten. I can live with a squashed preview for the small number of games where I have to use different settings. Or capture my own video instead of using the ROM.

I did have some random crashed here in there. Especially, if I was scrolling through the wheel repeatedly. But it seems like I always have some crashes when I make changes to the database. I just chalk it up to it taking a few sessions for new information to be cached. Since installing the last RC, I don't recall having any crashes. Maybe one. I haven't had any crashes for the last several games I've started.

I've left PinballX in attract mode for two or three hours over the last couple of RCs. And I haven't seen any issues with DMD video playback or with VPM ROM-based previews. I'm loving this VPM feature. It's really, really cool. And saves me a bit of time. I have a P2k style cab, and to download and use anybody else's DMD videos I have to flip and re-encode them.

Is the windowed mode new? I tried to use Full Screen windowed but I wound up with three small windows for playfield, backglass, and DMD all on the playfield screen. Are we supposed to manually resize if we want this option? I wound up just going back to Fullscreen.

Specs:

BioStar H77MU3 mb

Intel i5 3570k (no overclocking)

8 Gb DDR3 RAM

GTX 660 (playfield)

GT 610 (backglass and DMD)

Samsung SSD 840 series, 120 Gb

Windows 7 x64 Home Premium

Perhaps try running windowed see if that shed any light.

Thanks for your help.

OK, maybe this helps:

If I run PBX in a small window, it immediately looses focus as soon as I select a PinMAME enabled table and the ROM sequences are displayed on my RealDMD.

I can bring back focus to the PBX window with the mouse, then switching to the next ROM enabled table: focus lost again.

Focus is not lost when switching to tables with RealDMD video.

Using whatever version, 5:10EST or 4:10EST ...

Ive just uploaded the latest and greatest.

Sigma, I don't get any focus issues here. Only in non cabinet mode in vPINMAME and PinballX does regain focus after it loses it. For my sanity could you please check the dates on PinballX.exe and VpinMAMELAuncher.exe

EDIT: Actually it won't regain focus in windowed mode but still it should regain focus in full screen windowed and again I don't get any focus issue here.

So not really sure what is going on, maybe do some lighter tests for now such as letting attract mode run.

Note: Full screen windowed mode is automatically turned on with this feature and unless you have a dmd monitor it should automatically use the hide pinmame option. So there should be nothing special to do on your end.

My cab is running win 8.1 but I have win 7 installed on it so will test that shortly. It basically has playfield, backglass and real DMD.

Thanks.

Tom.

Ok first thing if pinmame is enabled menus/wheel are a lot slower. Kinda lagged or choppy but I would say like in slow motion. Menus run fine with pinmame option as no

Tom I'm also concerned I cannot test this as I would need to open database in game manager correct to add rom and check mark? I cannot do this with 600+ games in database. I do have other vp databases for physics mods and older vp but check mark for pinmame is not in those but they are under the 300 or so limit but not seeing check mark rom option in them. Scared to try to open main database and save it from manager

Tom,

What is your key assignment for the Left an Right keys ? Standard LShiftKey and RShiftKey ?

Could you please do me a favor and make two quick tests:

1.) Change left and right key to "Cursor Left" and "Cursor Right". (This is my configuration, where I have the problems)

Still no problems when switching PinMAME enabled tables ?

2.) Change left and right to anything else like OEMBackslash and OEMMinus.

Could you also hear the Windows sound "Bing" (something message like "unvalid key"), but tables are switching (with some lag)
