Wii Database

Just as the title says, I am going to be making a nice database for the Wii that will include English games, how many players, descriptions, genre, publisher, developer, Release date, the Wii's Game ID as GoodName so for people like me who use a real Wii on the side, there will be no renaming required or MAP files required so there won't be filename conflicts when you try to load your ISOs on your Wii. (The Wii requires the filenames be the Wii games internal game ID for it to recognize and load them). Be ready. ;)

I am going to use this post to keep track of what I've completed so far. (nothing is being done in any particular order)

So the question is, will it include WiiWare too? I have a seperate section on my cab for it. :)

It will not have Wiiware. I think a separate database would be better. Also I would do those as well if you think I should. :P I'm only doing the Wii because databases for the Wii already exist. I'm basically copying over all the info from an xml from gametdb.com to my database.

^me = both. ;)

I just got done making a bunch of Title Snaps for WiiWare Games. Just figured you'd like to know. If you're a supporting member on emumovies you can grab them from my upload folder. :) Might do Game Snaps too, but that won't be until all the Title Snaps are done, as well as my Wii Database.

Kudos. Work. :)

Thanks, it wasn't easy getting all of them and renaming them all as well. Especially when I have french and japanese covers too that I had to separate them from. Not sure if I should even mess with the Japanese and French covers because the names aren't all the same. I'd gladly hand the images over for someone else to though lol. :D

Just a note. There is already a wii database that matches to ReDump sets. Currently it is unfinished, though does contain over 500 titles.

I am aware of this, in fact its what I'm using in my database as a starting point because it has over 500 game entries but literally no info other than the redump names; unfinished is an understatement. I am adding ALL other info like genre, players, descriptions, date of release, publisher, developer, and the GameID's (For modded Wii users) for each game that is already in the original database that GameEx provided. Once I get that done I will start adding games that haven't been added to the database at all yet. Also once that is done I am going to make a WiiWare database separate from the Wii Database. :)

I was referring to the current wip one. This has all data for 95% of the games.

These databases will be released when evo is released.

I couldn't be aware of such because almost everything involving Evo has been kept in the dark from the general public. Also if it only has 500 or so games in it, it'll still need adding on to. I'll keep working on mine because it would still benefit people like Modded Wii users like myself who have their Wii ISOs named after their GameID. The Evo Database may help give me more time to work on a WiiWare Database and get Snaps made though.

Awesome work!!

Wanting to contribute ...... I've attached an updated db3 file (zipped). The updates include completing nearly all the missing game (wbfs/iso name) codes. I've also added a few more (recent) games to the list.

Great work adding all the Game IDs to all the games in the list! I noticed there were some things that had weird symbols in it. If you're getting the data from the same place I am the database has these weird symbols in it and you have to scan through each one to make sure they are deleted when you copy it into the db3. It's the reason I've only been able to put all the info for just ~200 games. so far

I trust the game IDs are all correct but I'd like if someone had a few of the games to test and see if they are for confirmation, I speak for my additions as well not just MediaGuy's.

Looking for testers. :P

Hi all ... Yes, the odd characters were not edited in my first update; however, I did update the db again and this time nearly completing the database. I scrubbed it a bit but I'm sure it will require some more attention and review of the details. The game codes were ALL tested against the wiitdb's site data source and that's where most of this data came from (if you wanted to know). It took me (what felt like) a thousand years to build an XML reader that would read and export the variable amounts of tagged xml data but I did it. There are a few games that did not have matches so data for those games is limited.

I'm feeling good about it but I did update MORE than I said I would, so I hope that's not an issue.

See attached db update file. :)

Ok. One MORE update for today and then I'm done for awhile. I also added few hundred *more* games which were listed on wiitdb's Wii game db but were not (yet) in this database. I did not include obvious custom mods but I'm sure there are many that look like real games but are not actual Wii games. All have Wii ISO game codes listed and most have descriptions, genre, publisher, developer, etc, now included as well. I cleaned up a good chunk of bogus/odd characters but some remain and can be picked up in future housekeeping efforts.

Records from ID 632 and up are the new records that I added.

Being new, I hope my enthusiasm isn't annoying or unwanted, but once I start something I just can't stand it until it's 'mostly done ...however, I know these things are rare ever truly 'done'.

Thanks!
