Can please somebody test the Pause/InGame-Button? There should open a menu. In my case there is no menu opening, and I become an error 'In Game: Error Initializing Display' in the log, everytime pressing the Pause button.

I think this error is combined with the Exit-error.

I ran some tests this morning and here are the results...

Future Pinball Results:

If I have "Hide DMD" and "Hide Backglass" checked PinballX will always drop to desktop after exiting the table.

If I have "Hide DMD" and "Hide Backglass" unchecked PinballX let me play the table once and return to PinballX, but if I play the table again it will drop to desktop when I exit the table.

I didn't have a chance to test VP this morning due to having to leave for work. I'll test it tonight when I get home and let you know the results. I have included the Future Pinball log file.

Hello Tom,

i did some testing with your Pinballx.7z from today. I installed V1.67 again. Then I installed your new exe over the existing exe. The first time I started PinballX, there was no crash at exiting PinballX. But everytime afterwards PinballX crashed. I have still problems with the InGame/Pause. This doesn't work for me. The table and the backglass disappears for about 0.5 seconds, and then they come back. No menu is showed. Here is my log.txt:

I tried to log all the happening with ProcessMonitor. Maybe there is a problem with DirectX on my machine. I use WinXP Pro 32bit SP3 with Directx V9.0c. Is this ok for PinballX?

Thank you for your efforts.

Please excuse my bad english - I'm from bavaria.....

Can you provide an updated copy of your log.txt file, please? Thanks!

I didn't post one because it crashed running the same test as earlier with Future Pinball, and I had to run out of the house quickly. I didn't have much time to test.

This evening I updated my NVidia drivers to the latest signed drivers from NVidia 327, from the beta drivers I had 326. I didn't try the lastest beta 331 drivers yet.

I ran some further tests just now to see how things were working and it seems to work for Visual Pinball, but the moment I run a Future Pinball table it will load the table then crash out when I leave the table. The log below includes the 3 VP tables I ran and then a single FP table, and then the crash.

Ran a few more tests and it seems to be fixed for Visual Pinball. I can load multiple tables with no problems and it returns to PinballX, although every once in awhile it will still crash on a VP table.. But it is no where near as common. Although it will crash on exit 100% of a FP table for me.

It does seem curious that the people posting all are using Windows XP SP 3 with DX9..

Included is the log:

The latest exe is working for me with VP, I don't use FP. It doesn't seem to matter what my hide settings are.

Thank you!

EDIT: Forget that, if I don't have the hide options selected it only lets me exit once but it's OK for me because I want them selected.

Hi, can you all please mess with the hide backglass/dmd settings in the game manager and confirm what works and what doesn't. Forget about in game mode for the moment as I will look at that after.

I'll be sure and run some more tests tonight when I get home. I didn't have a chance to this morning. I'll update you with the results. Thanks for the work you are putting in to resolve this issue.

Hello Tom,

thank you very much for your hard and fast work!!!! :)

I did some tests with the version from today 03:22 PM:

If I start a VP-table I can now exit this table and come back to PinballX. Yeah!! This worked for me a few times. This seems to be independent from the config of 'Hide DMD' or 'Hide Backglass'. But once I pressed the InGame-Button which causes an error in the log, the next try of exit a table to PinballX ends in a crash of PinballX. This meens, if I do not use the InGame-Button, then all works perfect. This is also independent from the config of 'Hide DMD' or 'Hide Backglass'.

Here is my logfile:

Let me know if future Pinball works with the attached but checkout the previous version too.

Ok the latest one works MUCH better.

I was actually able to load multiple tables in FP before it crashed. Hide DMD/Back glass settings seemed to have no effect. It crashed after I exited the 4th table on FP. Although after running several tests it may be kind of random when it has the crash.. I was able to load through 15 tables without a crash.

On a side note, it would appear that when I now exit a VP table it drops to desktop.

attached are the VP and the FP log files.

Tom this one is running pretty good. I loaded a bunch of games just using FP and it did crash after several games.

I then added BAM just to see how it would run and it worked fine flipping between VP and FP tables.

It did eventually crash out after several tables with the usual error:

The odd thing was when it crashed this time it left Future Pinball running when it would drop to desktop. FP didn't close, I had to close it manually. Although I am guessing that is because BAM was running over FP.

But like I said it seemed to only crash after several tables. Included is the last log file.

Hi Tom,

I've tested the new version in my cab with VP. This version is almost perfect. I can exit VP-tables to PinballX without crashing. The InGame-Button works also :) After pressing the InGame-Button, the menu appears. The only odd thing is, when I press the InGame-Button and then go back to the VP-table, then the backglass went away. I have to exit the table and restart the table then the backglass starts. I use directb2s backglasses.

Here is my logfile:

Did you happen to try more than a couple of tables? I found if I did several tables it would seem to crash. Running anything under 5 it seemed to hardly ever crash. I did have it crash once after exiting a single VP table, but I didn't count that.

I didn't try the in game pause. I don't have a key set up for it.

I've now tested 18 tables in one PinballX-session. There was no crash. But I don't use the Exit-table-button. I've only one Exit-button in my cab and i configured this button to InGame and Exit-PinballX. So when i'm in a table i press InGame and leave the table with the Ingame-menu. I made another test with the Exit-table button with my keyboard. I started and exited 14 tables with the exit-table-button without any crash.

The only thing I've mentioned is after pause a game and reenter in the game, the directb2s-backglass went away.

And there is another odd thing: I set the option 'Start with windows'. If i set this option PinballX started slowlier. Can somebody confirm this?

Likely whatever other programs, processes, or services that are loading at the same time as the Windows start are likely at play and causing PinballX to appear to load slower as they are all competing for the almighty CPU cycles at once as opposed to when you start up, logon, and load manually. Not much that can be done about that I'm afraid.

Sorry, I explained this wrong. The start of PinballX is even slowlier when I start it manually from desktop after I closed it manually. If I uncheck the option ' Start with windows', PinballX will start much faster from desktop.
