thurmansevolution Posted July 16, 2012 Share Posted July 16, 2012 Hello all! I was very happy to see the new version of GameEx this morning, and all of its new features seems to be excellant! There is just one problem I am having though when trying to start up the new version of GameEx - It stops responding and Windows shuts it down. I have tried uninstalling it and then manually downloading it and reinstalling, but it still does the same thing. Is there anything in Windows that I have to update to get it to run correctly?I'm attaching the log file that was created after running the 12.71 version.- I've downgraded to the 12.65 version, lol its the only other version that was saved on my harddisk.Thanks in advance!! There is a "Not Restoring Emulator Database From Cache" in the log, so i guess it has something to do with the new database format.I emptied my GameEx folder except for GameEx.ini and custominput.ini, in order to get a clean installation, and then ran the offline installer. GameEx starts loading the databases, then crashes to desktop: I mean, no error window, it crashes abruptly and gives me a black desktop. Curiously, the right click doesn't work, maybe because HideOS is still running, but I can't find it in the list of active processes.Running XP SP3.At the moment I am completely unable to run GameEx. And, having followed the installation process, I can say that no SQLite installation took place.But, I ask, was it necessary to have Microsoft Office installed in order for GameEx to read mdb files? Lol, and I didn't back up any files, but its cool - It'll only take an evening with an ice cold beer to reconfigure everything. I just hope that it will get fixed soon so I can start reconfiguring and have the cab back working 100% .This might just be a weird hunch, but I think it maybe that it's looking mainly toward C:\ that it's causing the error...my computer is set up that my harddisk is H:\ due to the amount of input drives on the front (eg. SD card slot, etc) - but I can't find a way for it to look at H:\GameEX\DATA\EMULATORS. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Makes me feel better about letting the occasional bug get through in my own projects. @te: Tom fixes bugs fast. I wouldn't worry about getting stuck with a stagnant version for long. I did notice that it went straight to updating all the DBs and started updating artwork, which is great, although I might be tempted to request that this be an optional update that can be enabled/disabled via Setup Wizard. Why was it trying to do anything to a BAT file as if it were a database? It doesn't matter, I don't use BAT files now that I have an Xpadder plugin. Who cares as long as it's working.
