  1. Good Morning my Friends. I have a weird GameEx Experience.. I can't find anywhere about this problem.... I hope you can help me with it. I'm using GameEx Arcade (I love it because it's simple... and not that Fancy!! and will do the job ) But my main problem is when start windows .. I start GameEx and the only emulator that I have is Mame .197 . 1- After GameEx boot up for the first time it run super fast and fine... I select the game that I want to play and The game loads................ but without the gamepad controller . unresponsive. 2- If I exit the existing game..... and I open the same game or another one.. the controllers will work just fine and every game after that... and the rest of the games. 3- If I run mame without the frontend for the first time after windows booted , Mame will boot just fine with the joystick /controller support... everything okay!!.... If I close mame (without front end) and I run GameEx and load a mame game... all the controllers will work just fine.. It seems that Mame needs to run once to get usb gamepad support.... I'm using an Dell OptiPlex 960 Core2 Quad at 2.88ghz Please help.!!!!!! Thank you Fellow ones!!
  2. Hey all, I am hoping I might be able to get a little assistance with an issue I've come across in Windows 10, that is unrelated to GameEx. I have an iPac 4, which I use to power my arcade control panel. It's a PS/2 connector on the board and then USB 2.0 to the computer. About 2 months ago (I think), I upgraded to Windows 10. Everything was working just fine, then I went down there last night and Windows 10 could not properly recognize the iPac 4 board. It was listed in device manager, but unknown. It should work like a plug and play keyboard device. It says "Unknown USB Device (Invalid Device Descriptor)" in device manager. I contacted Andy over at Ultimarc and he says everything should work fine in Windows 10. He said I could ship it to him and he'd check it out. That'll be shipping from USA to England though. I'd like to try and troubleshoot a bit first, so I am looking for ideas. I have tried to uninstall the software and then reinstall. That did not work. I cannot locate a driver for the device anywhere on the internet. I plan on trying to connect it to my MacBook tonight. If it works on the MacBook, I know to look more into the Windows computer. Also, I have unplugged and plugged back in a few times to see if it would register differently. Also, can anyone recommend a good location for information on Windows 10? I have it connected to my Gmail account and it asks for my password every time on startup. I thought this would be cool at first, but now I am losing it. Also, I'd like to look into disabling quite a bit of stuff. For instance, turning off OneDrive sync, OneDrive opening on startup and notifications. Maybe just a good tutorial. It seems like things are in different places. Thanks,
  3. Don't know if any of you use Controller Remap. This is add-on GUI to hopefully cut out the need to delve into xml files. Should make the whole process a little easier. Basically, it solves the issue of when you swap USB devices and Mame looses the controls due to random enumeration. Screens: Video: Hope it helps someone.
  4. UPDATE: I've since made a GUI for ControllerRemap which should ease its use a bit more. You can snaffle it here: http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/16298-app-controllerremapgui/?p=142778 Original Post: ControllerRemap solves the problem of changing USB device numbers with your Mame setup. You can get it here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,108767.0.html So - I've been battling with ControllerRemap for days. Finally licked it, but appears that quite a few have had problems understanding the documentation and getting it to work. So I made a simple ABC guide with a few tools to assist. You can get it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15144043/ControllerRemapGuide/ControllerRemapGuide.zip or here: https://sites.google.com/site/alienarcade74/sub-projects/software-setups/mame-setup#TOC-ControllerRemap Cheers

  6. Hello, I thought I would share this with y'all: I was having a bit of a problem before when it came to windows changing my USB device IDs after reboot. Plugged into my cab, I have a regular mouse, a trackball (Ultimarc's Utrak), and two lightguns from ArcadeGuns.Com (which uses AimTrak technology). After rebooting, I would have to reconfigure all of the trackball and lightgun games, as their device IDs would change via Windows. After many hours searching for a fix to this problem, and much trial and error, I think I came up with a good solution to this problem - it's a small fix, and so far, I had no troubles since then. - Oh, and if you have more than two lightguns, a trackball, and a mouse hooked up; or if you constantly plug and unplug different types of devices that windows looks at as mice, than this may not work for you. I would suggest downloading "ControllerRemap". It's as simple as this: If you set the lightgun's Device IDs using the AimTrak software (from Ultimarc) to "Device 3" and "Device 4" right before shelling GameEx (or any type of front end), you will never have to reconfigure anytype of lightgun or trackball game in Mame - you can even plug and unplug the devices, as long as the computer is shut down when ya do, and as long as you plug the devices in the exact same USB ports, and windows will keep the same Device IDs. I've tried this on my cab for the past couple of days (shutting down, unplugging everything, replugging everything, powering up), and so far, everything worked seamless, every single time. This should also work if you are using a USB hub - I have my trackball hooked up to the hub, and never had to reconfigure any trackball games since. I hope this will help some of you, who may be stumbling on this issue when building your cab! LC
