  4. I am trying to cull my game list to get rid of games I don't want. So instead of starting with an entire set, I thought I would start with the ones I know and work and then add more from there once they are tested and have all the necessary files. My issue is, I have started with just a couple of ROM's that work but when I update my game list, Gameex shows me the entire list of available games, not just the 3 in my ROM folder. I have tweaked a few filters in the advanced mame section but it doesn't seem to matter. I am using Gameex 3.0.3, Mame 0.0161 with corresponding ROMs. I have also applied the Mame system pack to Gameex. Is there a setting I am missing???? Thanks, Jason GameEx.ini

  10. MAME emulator .map file

Is there somewhere inside the GameEx folder that I can get the MAME .map file? I know the path of .map files is, at least on my computer: C: \ GameEx \ MAP FILES " It turns out that when configuring this emulator in "GameEx Menu Editor", I can choose in the "Item Type" tab, the option "MAME" or the option that I created called "Arcade". The problem is that when I choose the option "Arcade" the names of the roms are not configured. Appearing the real names of the files. While the option "MAME" could not do that once choosing this system within the gameex I can already see the list of games. It is always necessary for me to choose the MAME system, then go to the screen where we have to choose between types of games like: Horizontal games Vertical games CPS Games etc... I wanted that once chosen the MAME system already appeared the list of games, instead of choosing the system, then having to choose the type of game to only then enter the list of MAME games. In short, is there a way to go right through the "all Mame games" part? If someone owns the file ".map" of the MAME system also serves !!! I know the reason may sound stupid, but it really bothers me .... I think I should have some degree of obsessive compulsive disorder !!!

  16. I installed GameEx Arcade edition today. I have only added about 100 roms to try to work out what works. It will load only one game. I can play that game OK but when I try to change games, none will load. Sometimes they will load to allow me to enter coins and start the game, then exit the game in a few seconds, as was the case with the several games attempted in the log. Only restarting the computer (Windows 7 Ultimate) will allow another Mame game to be loaded. Advice to fix requested. log.txt GameEx.ini

  19. Hi all, Been searching around the forum but can't find an issue that is similar enough to ours; When loading into the Gameex system and viewing "all games" not all of the ROMs that are shown as available in MAME can be viewed or played. We've been looking into this issue for the best part of the day, we also tried changing the ROM path but the same 160 games (which stop after A in the directory) showed. I've attached the gameex.ini and log.txt from our machine, any help would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Michael at 3GiTech GameEx.ini log.txt

  21. GameEx/Mame

Hi everyone, I am new to GameEx (used to use Mala 174). I am using the setup wizard, but I can't seem to get just the Mame roms that I have to display. GameEx is continuously pulling a gigantic list. How can I get just the roms that I have on my drive to show, and not what is available online? Thanks!
  22. Zinc Database?

Is there a Zinc database out there? There are built in Arcade databases for Atomiswave, model2 & model3. But I could not find one for Zinc and one have one or can point me to it? Thanks.
  23. One thing i've always loved about GameEx is all the little features you discover that may at first not seem obvious to you. MAME custom lists may well be one of those features! I've only recently discovered them myself and now can't live without them. So what are they? Well, you know all the various lists you can enable in the MAME section of GameEx, for example: Atari Games, Classics, Vertical Games etc etc? Well you can make your own! "Really?! Well stop babbling and show us how!" Sure thing For this guide i will be using our High Score Competition custom MAME list as an example. You can grab a live updated version anytime, here. As you can see it looks quite simple, and it really is! Let's break it down: [FOLDER_SETTINGS] | | This section must be included,RootFolderIcon = cust1.ico | but is not important. Leave as is.SubFolderIcon = cust2.ico |[High Score Games] | This is the Title of your list as it will appear in GE. It can be anything you like! <--It's important to leave this gap!1944 |anteater |arkanoid | Your game list! Just list the roms you would likebankp | included in your list, one on each new line. The onlyblazstar | thing to remember here is use the ROM name - GameExbloodbro | will take care of formating it for you into nice Titlesbombjack |You can create your lists with Windows Notepad (or any decent text based editor) using the above format, BUT make sure you save it with the .ini extension and NOT .txt (ie: myubermamelist.ini). The filename can be anything you like but obviously it's good practice to give it a name that makes sense to you.Great! Now what? Now you need to tell GameEx where your lists are! You should put all your lists into one folder. I have a folder in my MAME directory called "customlists", but they can be anywhere you like. Just make sure they are all together in that one folder. Next, load the GE Setup Wizard> Custom> MAME Settings. Find Custom Lists Path, and browse to the folder containing all your lists: Finally, boot GameEx. Go into the MAME section and hit Update List. Wait for it to do it's thing and then back out of the main game list (it will load the All MAME Games list automatically when it's finished updating) and BOOM! There is your snazzy custom list waiting to be browsed If i've not explained anything clearly just leave a reply and i'll do my best to assist you. Now get creating them awesome lists! For your pleasure, some lists that i have created: Dazzle's MAME Shmup Hitlist (WIP): thedazzlelist.ini The GC-Wolfman Shmup Comp 2014: wgcshmuptourney2014.ini The Internet Gaming Bash of the Year 2014: IGBOTY2014.ini Monster Mash 2014: monstermash2014.ini Internet Gaming Bash of the Year 2 - 2015: IGBOTY2-2015.ini - Courtesy of Buzzin69 Enjoy! TIP: To get the rom name of the games you want to add to your list, i find using Romcenter the easiest method. It will create a database from your own MAME.exe from which you can just search the title of the game you want and it will tell you the associated rom name. It sure beats sifting through 28,000 roms in Windows! halloweenbash2015.txt
