  1. I was wondering...: A lot of the themes created now are made for a 1920x1080 HD setup. Those are great but...: when building a Cab a 4:3 (non-wide)screen is still the most common to use, right? So why are there less themes created for arcade cabs? I presume a lot of you guys use GameEx because of having (future) plans to build a cab or maybe already have one. 4:3 themes do fit the bill better in that scenario right? Love to hear the communities reaction on this Thanks, GC
  2. Hey all, Here's a taster of the project KRC and myself are working on.... still lots of work to do but this screeny should wet your appetite To be continued ........
  3. Hey all, It has been mentioned that a few members are having trouble with 'After Darness' image layouts with certain emulators, so I thought I'd let people know that I've done a few more (78 in total) ini's to add to the theme to solve this. Reason this is happening The theme uses custom layouts and if an emulator is used that doesn't have an .ini it automatically goes to a default layout. I'm not 100% that all the names of the .ini's are correct, but I'm sure this will solve those emulator image placement problems. A slight rename might be needed as all of our setups are different but thats not different from the usual changes we all make to our GameEx setups. I have a zip of all 78 files for convenience for those that have issues. All that you need to do is extract to the 'GameEx\THEMES\After Darkness ' folder and overwrite any ini files that are there, unless you've already changed the existing ones to your liking in which case you can skip them. The zip is only 28k so its a very quick fix for a problem I know some of you mentioned. http://ul.to/iwikd3k2 Here is a list of the included ini's CPS-3 FB Alpha MAME Mjolnir Model2 Nebula Raine WinKawaks ZiNc Sammy Atomiswave Sega Naomi Atari 2600 Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Atari Jaguar Bally Astrocade Coleco Vision Commodore Amiga CD32 Emerson Arcadia 2001 Fairchild Channel F Fujitsu FM-Towns Marty GCE Vectrex Magnavox Odyssey Magnavox Odyssey 2 Mattel Intellivision Microsoft Xbox NEC PC-FX NEC SuperGrafx NEC TurboGrafx CD NEC TurboGrafx-16 Nintendo GameCube Nintendo N64 Nintendo NES Nintendo SNES Nintendo Wii Sega 32x Sega CD Sega Dreamcast Sega Genesis Sega Master System Sega Saturn SNK Neo-Geo SNK Neo-Geo CD Sony Playstation Sony PlayStation 2 BFM MFME Atari Lynx Bandai WonderSwan Bandai WonderSwan Color Entex Adventure Vision Nintendo DS Nintendo Game Boy Nintendo Game Boy Advance Nintendo Game Boy Color Nintendo Super Game Boy Nintendo Virtual Boy Sega Game Gear SNK Neo-Geo Pocket SNK Neo-Geo Pocket Color Sony PSP Apple IIc Commodore 64 Commodore 128 Commodore Amiga Commodore CBM-II Commodore PET Commodore PLUS4 Commodore VIC20 MGT Sam Coupe Microsoft DOS Microsoft MSX Microsoft Windows ScummVM Sinclair ZX Spectrum Future Pinball Visual Pinball Visual PinMAME I hope this helps any of you with issues. FAO Tom, would it be possible to add these ini's to the existing uploaded Theme, or would I have to upload it again?
  4. Hello and good morning/afternoon/evening to you all! I hope all of you had a great Holiday Season, at least as much as I did! This upcoming Monday, I will start working on The Walking Dead theme, and would like a few suggestions - mainly which would you perfer, a theme based on the show, or on the comics? (Whichever option has the most votes will "win"! ) LC
  5. Hello! Just a quick question - Some of the pics I'm using as part of the new set of themes I'm working on seem to "jump" around a little (looks like it tries to adjust or something) when testing them in GameEx...does anyone know what causes this? ...if so, how do fix it? Thanks in advance!! LC
  6. Hi All, I am unable to change my theme. I am only tring to use the default themes. Also, many of the snaps have disappeared when I scroll through the various themes. Even if I pick a theme that still has a snap it still does not change in Gameex. I did this many times before with no problem. Thanks for any help. Went away on its own. I downloaded some of the custom themes and Gameex just started working properly. Themes are changing now. GameEx ini dec12.txt log file dec12.txt
  7. Hello! I am kinda still a noo-b when it comes to custom theme creation. I have a pretty decent concept of it now though, and with time, I should improve lol. For the upcoming holiday season, I am creating a Christmas based theme to run in the arcade cab through the month of December. After the theme is 100% finished, I would also like to upload it here, to share with the community . I would post some pics of it here, but I have no idea how to create the snap image of the theme yet lol. If there is anyone here who would like to test out what I have so far, please let me know and I'll send you the files. And any comments and chritizim will always be welcome. Thanks! LC
  8. Here's my second I've been working on this for a couple of days, still needs a bit of tweaking but I'm more or less done. I had a few problems with the theme editor so it took longer than I expected but I tried to work my way around. My first theme and second are leading me to another but I have to get comfortable with the editors little eccentricities and then my work flow will be better. Regardless, here's a snap of number two I used my icons from my first theme so its not a new work, I just wanted a different feel to my last and I think I achieved it. When I get this editor locked I'll do my third... Enjoy all Please let me know the mistake's I've made so I can learn a little faster
  9. Hello! A few days ago, I added a startup video that I downloaded from EmuMovies (Which the video was pretty awesome lol - its the one that starts out with Pong, then goes to Pitfall, then Mario, Sonic, etc...) Anyway, after directing GameEx to the "intro" folder I created for the Startup Video Directory in the Setup Wizard, when I start GameEx, its been "hit or miss" when loading. What I mean by this is that, it seems like GameEx tries to load at the same time the video is running - there will be flashes of the GameEx Homescreen and will suddenly freeze on either the video or homescreen, leaving the audio playing. When the audio from the video finishes, GameEx will close and an error box will load, saying that there was a problem with DirectX. This doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes - about once every 5 to 10 times or so. I am away from my cab right now, but as soon as I get home, I'll try to recreate the problem, and post the log and config files if needed. What I am wondering for now is, has anyone had the same problem? ...and if so, how did they fix it? My video card and drivers are all up to date, and I done everything that the error suggested to do, but with no progress. Thanks in advance for all of your help! LC
  10. Hi Folks ! After lots and lots of works, I finally can release a beta of my new theme. Don't recognize the name ? It's the same idea present in my MetroEx theme. I've putted the ICS at the end because of the changes that I made. Almost of those changes are related to the colors (now more vivid ones) and the fonts (Using Android 4.0 Roboto). Those changes are made because I wasn't satisfied with the old ones. So now the theme is inspired in Metro UI and Android ICS. Some quick instructions. 1- Roboto Font is NECESSARY. You can download it for free from Android Design Website. The zip file containing the theme has the font already. So after the download just install it. 2- The theme is almost finished. I have to just do some backgrounds and Icons. 3- Please, let me know wich console icon YOU want. My idea is to release the theme with the most consoles icons as possible. The ones that you have there are the systems that I have. 4- If you download and use it, please PLEASE let me know the problems that you have. 5- It's a complete re-write, so even the bars, arrows and everything will be redrawn. And I'm almost finishing it ! 6- All the theme is made with custom lay-outs. So please enjoy ! And report me any problems ! Download Link : http://www.mediafire.com/?6rnxfu3nf0f6aca Some screenshots
  11. How can I set the secondary image (the bottom one) to a certain type of artwork for MAME? I'm using the Mediacenter default theme. I have all the types of artwork setup in GameEX for MAME which I would like to keep, but I want the secondary image set to titles and the top set to snaps. The only way I have been able to do this is by not adding any artwork other than snaps and titles in my config. Thanks for the help.
  12. I downloaded the 3D cabinet set from the GameEx website. They look great!... but when I'm browsing the list of games I'd rather NOT see the 3D cabinet. I'd rather see the video snap (or photo snap) along with the marquee. The 3D cabinets also slow down the browsing just a tad. And that way I can still view the 3D cabinet by selecting it after I select a particular game. Is there a way to customize what content goes in which slot? I looked in the Setup Wizard settings, but I didn't see anything. I'm using the Default Media Center theme. I haven't actually tried other themes, but I've looked at their screenshots and so far I think I'm okay with the default theme. But, if another theme solves this problem I'd be willing to look at it.
