  1. For some reason when I load tables up via PinballX the BAM settings aren't being used. Once the table is loaded up the table is pushed to the upper left part of the table and not in the default size/position that BAM usually displays the table in. I can run BAM outside of PinballX just fine via FPLoader.exe, load up a table and press Q to get to the BAM settings menu, by default BAM displays the table in the middle of the screen. What it seems like is PinballX isn't even running FPLoader and is just calling Future Pinball.exe essentially not loading any part of BAM or its settings. I did notice something odd though, when I remove /STAYINRAM from the parameters that PinballX will actually load the BAM settings just like if I ran FPLoader outside of PinballX, but PinballX crashes to the task bar and or exits essentially making me have to reload the pinballX application again. So something funky must be going on with the /STAYINRAM but I'm not entirely sure at this point. Future Pinball, FPLoader, and PinBallX are all set to run as Administrator I attached 2 screen shots, my PinballX.ini, and log.txt files. Screen 1 - FP+BAM outside of PinballX: Shows how the table looks and loads up when I run FPLoader outside of Pinballx Screen Shot 2 - FP+BAM inside PinballX: Shows how the table loads up when I run FPLoader in PinballX FP+BAM settings are under [system_2] PinballX.ini: PinballX.ini Log File: log.txt Thanks for any and all help, I have been trying to get this to work for a few weeks and have been pulling my hair out trying to get this to work correcty. BONUS Screenshots of my cab, I am a newb and just got into the hobby about 5 months ago.
  2. Is there a way to run PinballX in some sort of extended/verbose mode to get better logs than what comes as default? I am trying to troubleshoot problems with backglass videos not displaying properly (only showing static image) when navigating in PinballX. Backglass works fine when table is selected for game play, just not during navigation. Hopefully extended logs will help show where the problem is so I can fix. Thanks, David
  3. I have a three monitor setup and working on custom DMD screen for my cabinet. The video file is running but is stuck behind the playfield. When you ALT Tab you can see it breifly and goes away when other program is select. Pinball.ini is correct setting this has been attached. Any insight would be great. Thanks in advanced. PinballX.ini
  4. Hey guys, Trying to get the .\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\DMD Videos to work properly on a 3rd PC monitor. I should be able to drop a video into this directory and have it play on my 3rd monitor, right? TABLE is named "AttachFromMars_FS_B2S" so I have a file there called "AttachFromMars_FS_B2S.mp4". If I drop this mp4 file into the .\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\Backglass Videos folder, it works just fine, albeit on my 2nd monitor instead. I have tried ALT-TAB to see if it was running on the 3rd monitor when I have it in the DMD Videos folder, but nothing is running in the background/hidden. I have also tried using the .\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\Real DMD Videos folder, and it also does not work. Any suggestions to get this puppy to run on a 3rd monitor? David
  5. Hey guys, I'm learning to tweak PinballX and I currently have 58 tables loaded and can see them in the wheel. However, I can only access (click through) approx. 16 of the tables. It's strange because I can see some of the others in the wheel, but just can't get to them by clicking with either the left or right flipper buttons. Is there a setting I need to change so I can scroll and access all loaded tables? Thanks in advance!
  6. I am experiencing an issue with Star Trek the next Gen and T2. This issue in within pinballx game list manager, the manager doesn't retain the settings associated with Wheel, backglass, etc. This either doing it manually or doing it from import. The wheel image will load and you can choose any other items to import. As soon as the program is closed those selected items are gone. I run the game list Manager under Admin. I have loaded countless other machines with no issues on imports. Just with these two particular games. If you have any insight or suggestion TKS in advanced. PinballX.ini
  7. All, I am looking for some help solving a problem with PinballX locking up in my cabinet. I have 16 tables loaded all are Visual Pinball. All others are set to Enabled=NO. I can load any game and play it with no problems from the editor directly. I can even let the system sit in a game for an hour with no problems. This is a new build, I have not seen the PC show any issues except in PinballX. I have tried turning off attract mode, (it is on now) as this is where I first noticed the issue, ( it would lock up cycling between games) but even with it off if I leave the system sitting on a selection (any selection) it will lock up solid after a few minutes requiring a hard boot. I am starting the application as administrator and have tested in compatibility XP Service Pack 3, and NT 4.0 Service Pack 5, I even tried Windows 7,but no change in the problem. A 1920X1080 Monitor is connected by HDMI to the HD Graphcs 4600, and a 3840X2160 42" 4K HDTV is connected to the GTX 760 via HDMI. As a note the operating system sees the GTX 760 as Monitor 2, and the HD Graphics as Monitor 1. My log file is below: I have made all the Windows updates, and Nvidia driver updates to the system. I have printed and read PinballX_S2F_Documentation rev 1.3, and have spent hours scanning and reading the forums, but so far I am finding nothing that will help solve this. I did install Shark Codecs as recommended hoping it would help, but system still locks up every time after 5 or 10 minutes. I have even been in a game playing and on exit found Pinball X unresponsive. Any help would be appreciated. My ini file:
  8. Hello there, I would like to make use of the VPM feature in PinballX on a two monitor cabinet. When I configure this in the settings and also the game manager by selecting a rom name etc. Pinball X launches the rom fine however it does not use the roms registry setting x.y coordiantes or size parameters but seems to stretch the vpinmame DMD right along the bottom of the screen and off the edge. Playing with the DMD size option in the settings menu allows this to be corrected somewhat but it seems to be a bit hit and miss based on what rom gets loaded. The other thing I noticed is that if a rom is not configured for a particular game, the default PinballX DMD video is rendered in place of this which I assume is by design however if I choose to hide the dmd game settings for a particular table, this built in menu is still loaded. I was wondering if it would be possible for the software to use the same registry settings vpinmame generally uses when rendering on a monitor in preference to a real DMD display and also if this default PinballX DMD video can be hidden by default even when a game does not have the rom configured in game manager but "Use DMD" is turned on in settings (For a 2 screen setup). Thanks in advance, and also thanks a million for this software, it's an excellent front end I've almost got working perfectly Dozer.
  9. Hello everybody, I´ve posted this request already at vpforums, but I guess that the issue is better placed here... hopefully . I´ve tried to Setup Pinball FX2 in PinballX after the latest PFX2 update (since it is possible to directly address specific tables). Everything works nearly perfect - no splash Screens anymore, no complicated menues with auto-navigating anymore... but it isn´t perfect, because: 1. If I put my Settings into the "official" Pinball FX2 System Screen of PinballX settings ...PinballX tries to navigate through the menu (which isn´t anymore). On tables with intro this results in aborting the intro. Worst case is e.g. "Avengers" where it cancels the intro and automatically chooses the "Captain America Ball". That´s the reason why I tried it another way round: 2. If I put my Settings into the "other" System Screen of PinballX settings ...the table will be started in Pinball FX2 but then it looses the Focus to the PFX2 Task and goes back to PinballX. If I manually Switch back to PFX2 (what I don´t like to do) my backglass won´t be shown anymore and my button Settings of PinballX won´t be recognized... So, currently I prefer Option 1, but I would like to supress those "auto-clicks" by PinballX. I already tried to adjust the "wait for"-Setting directly in the PinballX.ini (I´ve tried values like "0", "-1", "FALSE" and tried to delete the whole row), but this didn´t worked out. Does anybody has any Suggestion for that? Or any Suggestion for Option 2? Many thanks in advance!!! Kind regards, Jannek
  10. sorry guys it happens again! copy/paste issue open pinballx, select FP table (ac/dc ledwiz supported) loading table... during loading some windows of FP appears after that start FP loading table page everything fine, table loaded but pinballx is over FP and controls don't work, work only Pinballx controls so: i've to press Alt+Tab to swap FP window and after FP controls works post config.ini and log.ini any ideas? thanks PinballX.ini log.txt

  12. Hi everyone, at first, a big thank you for what you all made so far ! Time for me to introduce my project, and ask for a litle help from Reunion Island, Indian ocean. my project is a present for my dad who's getting retired soon. he's a pinball fan but he don't know anything in computers ! I have installed pinball x, working great with VP, FP and PFX2. i'd like to add 2 features : a NES emulator and a juke box. i have to find a way for those applications to be easily launched with pincab buttons. i 've tried several solution with no success. i tried maximus arcade to be the master front end but i couldn't launch pinball x from it. another solution would be to launch the NES Emulator and jukebox from Pinball X (i didnt' succeed with pinballx) or, i could may be do that with gameex... the point is that it must be very easy to navigate, select and play, shutdown, with no mouse or keyboard. i put some pictures attached of my work in progress ! excuse my english, i'm french !! hope i can find answer and contribute ! Olivier
  13. I installed a Sidewinder Freestyle Pro in my pinball cabinet to handle nudging. It works fine but now I started to have a problem with PinballX which was working great for the last year or more. When I exit a table, the system doesn't go back to PinballX but it also quits PinballX and returns to the desktop. If I disable the Sidewinder in Device Manager (or unplug it), everything is back to normal. I tried to change the buttons to quit the table and to exit PinballX, but no matter what combination I select, this doesn't help. I also tried to plug the Sidewinder to different USB sockets and play around with changing the other USB peripheral plug locations - nothing makes a difference. Did anyone else experience such a problem? What could be the solution? I would hate to be forced to return to Hyperpin since PinballX works much better for me, but I also want to have the nudging provided by the Sidewinder. I'm running Windows XP 32-bit, don't know if this matters.
  14. Is it possible to make make the screensaver audio files loop and repeat? I have added full length song that is perfect for pinball (you have 3 guesses) and while it plays fine, I would like it to keep repeating itself. Better still, is it possible to have multiple files in the screensaver audio folder and have PinballX play them one after the other (pref in a random order) while in attract mode? It would be awesome to have like a few hours worth of mp3 files in there and just let it play while the screen scrolls the tables. Cheers Rusty
  15. Hello, I have run out of ideas as to why Attract Mode will not restart after a table has been opened. It works perfectly when PinballX first starts. I have installed the most recent PinballX update. I have reduced my databases to just 1 VP 9.9.0 (I generally run 1 for VP9.9.0, 1 for VP PhysMOD5 and 1 for mameuifx32) I have reduced that 1 VP database to just two table entries to test. I have deleted all media. (Had never run table/backglass vids) All in the hope of isolating the problem, but these have had no effect. I have set and reset Attract Mode in the Wizard, but no effect. It works perfectly when PinballX first starts, but is never to be seen again after a table is played. Attached are the .ini and log files. I hope you can help a noob. Cheers Rusty EDIT: Ok it's not just after table play. Attract mode won't even restart after scrolling the PinballX table menu. EDIT 2: After reading threads about videos & naming issues causing problems, I have turned off 'File Matching' and ensured that all media files are named correctly and display OK. Sadly, the restart problem still exists. PinballX.ini log.txt
  16. Hi guys, I want to try win8.1 in my pincab now with win7 (I have it in mamecab with same hardware and it's really really faster). Could I copy all pinballx dir in my hdd portable and when formatted and installed win 8.1 paste the dir? Or Have I to execute pinballx setup and copy only few files with config and media? Thanks
  17. Many thanks to PinballX Moderator Zeenon for his update to this important document for setting up PinballX. This is especially beneficial to those new to or unfamiliar with PinballX. Please find the latest update here.
  18. For the FX2 in Pinballx I have still Images they stay up on the backglass the whole time you play the game.. If I use a video for the back glass it goes blank when you go into the game... Is there a way to keep the video playing during the game
  19. After years of enjoying my GameEx powered MameCab it was about time I tackled a PinCab. Now having my Mame cabinet prepared me for some of the build process, I was really surprised about all the advancements in both GameEx and now PinballX. I picked PinballX without even looking at other frontends based purely on my experience with GameEx. I was lucky enough to find a cabinet on ebay a short drive from my home. Over the course of a month the system was up and running on old bits and pieces of PCs. currently running : Core2Quad q6600 4Gb ram Geforce 640gt running all three screens Windows 7 32bit 39" Vizio Playfield 1080p 120Hz (model E390i-A1) (upc 845226007934) 28" Vizio Backglass 720P 60Hz 10.1" LG LCD panel from seedstudio IPac VE Even with what I think are low system specs, it still keeps up with nearly all tables, except apollo13 13-ball multiball. I will probably upgrade this machine with an i5 based system, or AMD if anyone has suggestions. Step away from PC tech for awhile and there are all new numbers / codenames / CPU / GPU / APU its crazy out there! Anyway I attached a photo of the completed machine. I will be around in the forums and out on the VP sites to see all the new toys
  20. I have the current version of PBX. I am working with Windows 7. Up until yesterday it worked perfectly with my 25 VP tables, including some B2S backglasses. When I restarted it this morning, PBX won't load. Originally I had PBX configured to start with windows startup. Yesterday It worked for a few restarts, but then stopped loading at windows start up. So I disabled startup with windows. PBX then started working again. After a few restarts of PBX, it just stopped loading. I restarted the computer several times to no avail. Here is the log text: It appears to stop attempting to load once it reaches " Loading Plugins ". I get this same log every time I try to start PBX. Here is the ini. ? 21. When a table is launched from PinballX, I'll get the initial load of the DirectB2S server and then a second later the static image defined in the Visual Pinball/Media/Backglass Images will be placed over the top. I've tried using the hidebackglass feature in the database XML, however instead of the static image, I'll get just a black screen over the top of the DirectB2S. I can alt-tab and find it and then return focus back to the table if I so desire. I've also found that there are some tables, namely the ones where the backglass provides for scoring or other features that seem to work and are not covered up by the image, however I can't find any consistency between those that work and those that do not. Currently running 1.85 if that makes a difference. Thanks!
  22. Hello everyone. I'm sure this has been reported over and over again here, but i'm going to report a problem and ask if anything is being done about it. When running PinballX on both a XP and Vista computer in desktop mode (both as admin and not), PinballX works well until loading a table, at which point the loading screen shows for a short period of time, then disappears, the screen goes black and then the editor can be seen loading a table. Can anything be done about this?
  23. Hello I've looked at http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/12837-support-for-pinball-fx2/ but it's very confusing. Can someone post a how to set up Pinballx with Pinball FX2? I can't get it to work for the life of me. Thanks
  24. I'm new to PinballX and decided to add it to my existing Hyperspin cab,but when I come to exit PinballX to go back to Hyperspin it locks the whole thing up, please point me in the right direction. I really like PinballX over Hyperpin.
  25. After updating to 1.75 i have the problem with the Backglass Images. it needs 10 x 'mo Times than before with 1.74 . The BAckglass display on my screen but i've to wait 10 seconds or it shows me the backglass Image 10 tables later. The PLayfield works well... so ,,,? i need to fix this... so where can i DOWNLOAD 1.74 or how can i roll it back?
