  1. You can get a much nicer card for less than you think. If you're running alot of emulators, don't be afraid to go for that extra memory.
  2. It only emulates 3 ROM sets? Weak. But I'll screw around with it and see if I can get it running. BBIAB. .:.EDIT.:. My ROM sets have changed alot since this emulator was last released, therefore I can't get this EMU to run my new ROM sets for these games. Sorry.
  3. I've been using split sets since I started collecting MAME roms. I have really found no reason to switch other than possible saving of HD space (which at the rate technology moves I will probably never need to worry about). I like being able to quickly and easily update my sets with clrMAMEpro so I will always have a current & complete ROM set. I just can't see how merging your MAME ROMs is an advantage... Now, console ROMs is another issue...
  4. Perhaps Mahjong is like their version of playing cards / poker / video slots / etc... I have played many a card game in the bar - or even poker machines. I'm sure they play Mahjong in the bar and there have to be like 15000+ different poker machines in America. Yeah.
  5. Hey all. If anyone needs it, I made an easy setup guide for Genesis, Master System and GameGear using the Fusion emulator. You can download the emulator and import GameEx ini files directly from the web site! If you're a noob and you want to get your Fusion emulator running quickly, click here. If anyone needs help outside of this, let me know. Hope that's helpful!
  6. Just to back Han's opinion up - The GameEx 7-zip functionality erases the need to make GameEx look for ROMs in other folders. Ultra compression is the new .zip like pink is the new black. Hope that helps!
  7. In Fusion you can tell the program what you want to run in the command line so it won't have the ability to 'Auto-Detect' the system. That way you can force KEGA to mount a .bin directly into the SegaCD emulator. In case you need to do that ever... Command=Fusion.exe -fullscreen -scd "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -sms ... Master System -gg ... Game Gear -gen ... Genesis -md ... MegaDrive -32x ... 32x -scd ... SegaCD -mcd ... MegaCD
  8. Sure! First things first: Go download the emulator (unless you're using NesterJ 0.51a). If you want to import the .ini directly without making any path changes in the .ini I'm about to give you, you should extract the contents of the zip to C:\EMULATORS\ Make sure that you change the 'Working Path' in the emulator setup if you extract to another location. Next... Download the GameEx config here for Nester J and extract it to the following directory: C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS\IMPORT-EXPORT (Note: This is your default GameEx installation directory. If you installed it somewhere else, change the path accordingly.) Nowrun NesterJ.exe and pull down the Options menu. Under the Graphics tab, put a check into the box that reads 'Switch to fullscreen on ROM load' Also, configure your game pad and change your file paths as needed. Next, open the GameEx configurations menu: START->All Programs->GameEx->Configuration Select the number you want to use: Emulator 5 for example. Open the page and you will see the following on the next page: Enabled - YES Import Emulator - NesterJ (If you extracted the GameEx zip I had you download to the right directory, it should be right there in the pull down menu) Input your File Paths (ie ROM files, snaps, cartridges, etc) Click SAVE on the bottom of your screen and exit configuration. Open GameEx and you should be able to use the emulator and run your NES roms by selecting them from the NES list. Hope that helps!
  9. Okay... Here's what I've tried: I went to a local used game store and picked up a copy of Sewer Shark. I then ripped it with Alcohol 120% into an .iso file, and manually zipped that to ultra compression with 7-Zip and changed my ROM filter to *.7z (Sewer Shark.7z) I then tried to boot it through KEGA. It was working OK, but I think I need to tweak some settings to get it where I can play it... Anyways, I suppose what I'm saying is I was able to mount an ISO without too much of a problem. And since I had the original CD, I was able to rip it directly. I'm gonna have to jump on a torrent and try some downloaded images since the setup is a little different. Hope that helps! .:.EDIT.:. So, you had a problem in GameEx where you couldn't tell which file was which? I haven't tried this through GameEx yet so I'm gonna have to get back to ya on that, cause I think what's happening is GameEx is set up to look for, say, .bin, .7z, .cue etc files initially, however, if it's a *.7z file with GoodMerge support, there's no filter in the extraction (like you pointed out). Like GameEx is set to, by default, display all contents of the .7z but without file extensions. I wonder if it'd be tough to impliment a second ROM filter for extracted *.7z ROMs in GoodMerge format? Like: ROMFilter=*.7z ExtractedROMfilter=*.cue Ya know what I mean? Either that or I have just rambled on about nonsense.
  10. It shouldn't matter because GameEx extracts the file before it loads it into the emulator. I don't use that emulator so I unfortunately can't assist you.. Sorry.
  11. To pause NEStopia, you would use SHIFT+P on the keyboard. For ZSNES, you only need to press the P button. Hope that helps!
  12. I'd be interested in seeing a config also since I don't currently use this emulator. Thanks!

    ZSNES Art.

If you have your ROMs named properly (like in GoodName Format) you can get most all of your SNES snaps at this site: http://localarcade.com/screenshotarchive/ If you're using GoodMerge, I'm gonna zip my snaps and post them on the ConfigHQ website: http://www.hfc-essentials.net/gameex/ Hope that helps.

    GoodMerge

Best way I found to o this is find the snap of your best dump: Tetris (U) [!] and remove the (U) [!]. That way you have one snap shot for each library since GameEx generally likes snap titles with the same name. Your directory's name is now Tetris.7z so the file's name should be Tetris.png or what have you. As far as having 7-zip, you need 7za.exe (which is the command line version of 7-zip) installed for it to work. You can get that here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html ...in case anyone was wondering. Hope that helps!
  15. Ha! My bad. Turn 'Roms In Folders' to no. You also shouldn't have to show your desktop. That combined with the quotation marks you should be good to go. [Emulator_5] Enabled=True StartPageName=Gameboy Advance (VBA) TitleText=Gameboy Advance StartPageLogo=gameboyadvance RomFilter=*.zip RomsInFolders=False ROMPath=N:\Handheld ROMs\GameBoy Advance SnapPath=N:\Game Snaps and Scans\GBA\Snapshots WorkingPath=C:\EMULATORS\VisualBoyAdvance MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=True ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=False RemoveBrackets=False AlsoLaunch= ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MapFile= OLDatZip= Command=VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" TitlePath=N:\Game Snaps and Scans\GBA\Title Screens BoxPath=N:\Game Snaps and Scans\GBA\Box Scans LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= CartPath=N:\Game Snaps and Scans\GBA\Cart Scans configFile= DumbyValue= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground=emubak.png PlayMusic= PCGame= DATABASE= GamesIn7Zips= Hope that helps!

    SEGA CD

Just to chime in for a second... GoodMerge may very well be an alternate solution. I'm pretty good at the whole GoodMerge thing, so I'll go get some ISO's and look into it. As far as .zip support, I use KEGA Fusion and it supported my .zip files, but I'm unaware of it's method with Sega CD images. As stated before, I'll go grab an ISO and see what I can see. Hope that helps!
  17. For your GBA - You forgot the quotes around the launch command. Try this: Command=VisualBoyAdvance.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Also, you can disable the GUI from the vba.ini file: autoHideMenu=1 (default value is 0) Alternately - I use VBA for all my GameBoy emulation and KEGA for all my SEGA needs. I keep my ROM files in seperate catagories by system - so I have a seperate 'emulator' setup for my Gameboy Color / Gameboy Advance / Genesis / Master System / Game Gear so I don't think it'll hurt to seperate them. As far as keeping all your ROMs in one directory, I'm sure you'd probably have to use a seperate 'emulator' config for the Sega CD since there are some other command line options you may want to use. I don't use images for Sega CD so I can't say for sure. Hope that helps!
  18. http://www.weenradio.com -> all ween all the time. Gotta give it up to Boognish and the best band ever.
  19. I also find that interesting - I run GameEx mosty on my N: drive (since I got alot of external / internal HDs and DVD-Rs and such) and GameEx isn't even physically installed on my C: drive. I do HAVE a C: drive though, so that may be why I don't have any problems. Not sure. Did you try doing a fresh GameEx install? Sometimes that's the best medicine. Hope that helps!
  20. I thought there was an option in the Config to disable these features? Under tweaks/performance? Maybe I'm wrong?
  21. *MARKER* GoodMerge really just takes all the regions / hacks / versions of games and creates a 'central directory' which strips all the identical code from the ROMs you use. You can set it up to favor your region (U for me, E for some of you) and it not only saves a TON of space on your HD but makes your game lists much easier to navigate. *HANSOLO* Actually, you need to use *.7z (assuming you're using 7-zip compression which I highly recommend) in the filter field. Make sure you have your ROMs unzipped and run a GoodName check on them before you start the GoodMerge process, otherwise you'll get tons of errors. After setting the ROM filter, be sure you enable GoodMerge support in the GameEx config for the emulator you're using. If you have any other problems, holla @ me. Hope that helps!
  22. If you're getting the snow screen in Fusion you're not setting it up right. Can you post your configs for GameEx and Fusion? I'm pretty sure I know what you're doing wrong there. AAlso, GBA on VBA works just peachy for me. Post those configs too and I'll be happy to help you out. Hope that helps!
  23. I'm happy to help. What do ya need?
  24. You don't have to tell me. I know how it is with side projects.
  25. Like in a self-extracting installer type format? That would be great! A simple walk-thru readme with that and people would be set up in no time!
