    Setup Help

I had the same problem, turns out it was the version of MAME i was using. Try the following: - First make sure you select Update List, if this works then your set, if it doesnt work - Download the latest version of MAME from here http://mirrors.xmission.com/mame/main/mame0104b.zip - Make sure you update all you configs to reflect the correct path/file names - Open up Gamex and select Update List again As i said, same problem with me, after doing the above it worked fine. Good Luck
  3. Vynce, Well it works a treat, fixed the problem straight away. Do i need to purchase Ultramon just to use the comand utility? Or is registration only for the fron end software?
  4. Hi All, I have just setup GameEx on my system, and thanks to some help from the forum, it is now working perfectly. I am planning on upgrading my existing PC, but thought i might get some suggestions before i go ahead with anything. GameEx and Media Centre both work fine, however as i use my PC for other tasks which run constantly, every now and again Media Centre lags a bit at the menus and very occasinally while watching video. My current setup is as follows: P4 3GB Processor 1GB DDR 333 RAM 2 x 300 GB EIDE HDD's (OS and Data) 1x 400 GB SATA HDD (Most Video and Audio located here) NVidea GFORCE FX 5200 Creative SB Audoligy 2 ZS Soundcard Monitor 1 - 22" Samsung LCD Monitor (using Analogue port) Monitor 2 - 42" Panasonic Plasma HDTV, running through HDMI port back to PC (using DVI on PC) I was thinking about the following upgrades: Pentium Dual core Processor 2GB DDR2 RAM 2 x 400 GB SATA HDD's (to use for all data and OS, in conjunction with exisiting SATA HDD) 128MB PCI-E Dual DVI Video Card (havent decided on model yet) I have already spent considerable time (and money) on my exisitng PC, so i would prefer to upgrade it rather than buy a new dedicated system just for media centre. However, if I will be better off with a dedicated system, then i might do that instead. Any thoughts/suggestions?
  5. -noswitchres fixed the problem. Thanks very much.
  6. Thanks Vynce! Yes, this worked perfectly. GameEx now runs on the plasma and exits back to dual monitor mode, seting everything back to the way it was. The only problem i have now, which im not sure is related, is that when i open Mortal Kombat 3, the video isnt right. I'm not sure what the exact description of this problem is, but basically there are horixontal lines running through the screen, it looks as if there are two copies of the image on the screen and one is slightly lowe than the other, creating a vertical blur of the image. It only seems to be effecting mortal kombat 3 and MK3 Ultimate, i've tested about 5 other games and they all work fine (however they are all older games). I'll have a play around with the display settings in the configurator, but if anyone knows a quick fix it would be much appreciated. Thanks again Boondy
  7. I run Media Centre on my PC, and output to a 42â? Panasonic Plasma via DVI-HDMI. Media centre works fine but GameEx doesnâ??t seem to like it. I changed the display option to, â??run on second monitorâ? but when I do this I get the following run error: 02:52:06.5 7/02/2006: Error in the application. 02:52:06.5 7/02/2006: at Microsoft.DirectX.DirectDraw.Surface.DrawInternal(tagRECT* destRectangle, Surface sourceSurface, tagRECT* srcRectangle, DrawFlags flags, DrawEffects& bltEffects) 02:52:06.5 7/02/2006: at Microsoft.DirectX.DirectDraw.Surface.Draw(Rectangle destRectangle, Surface sourceSurface, Rectangle srcRectangle, DrawFlags flags) 02:52:06.5 7/02/2006: at GameEx.GameEx.mainform.DisplayFrame() If I donâ??t select run on second monitor, it starts up fine, but obviously doesnâ??t show up on the Plasma. I have scoured through the forum, and tried changing the advised settings, turning off advanced mode, changing to 16bit etc but nothing works, same error. The resolution on my plasma is already set to 800x600, but I have also tried both settings (donâ??t change and change my resolution) neither work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
