  1. tried changin themes. didn't work. i did make a slipstream windows install with sp2. i figured the other post about a lite version of win meant something like home basic and not this. my guess is that's the problem. i guess i'll have to reinstall windows again. are there any slipstream programs compatible with gameex that you know of? i've tried the default path and a custum path. same results tried the attactment. got the same error. here it is in case it's somewhat different: 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: GameEx: Version 9.13: Starting Log 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Operating System Name: Windows XP 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: .net Framework 2.0 Installed 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Intel® Core(tm)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz, 1022MB 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: 1.87Ghz - 2 Cores or CPU's 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Running Randomize() 16:09:20.5 2/26/2008: Loading PlugIns 16:09:20.7 2/26/2008: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 16:09:20.7 2/26/2008: Running Misc startup tasks 16:09:20.7 2/26/2008: Setting Menu types 16:09:20.7 2/26/2008: Opening Configuration File 16:09:20.7 2/26/2008: Getting Configuration Values 16:09:20.8 2/26/2008: Using Theme: Default - Media Center 16:09:20.8 2/26/2008: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - Media Center 16:09:20.8 2/26/2008: Launching HideOS.exe 16:09:20.8 2/26/2008: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 16:09:20.9 2/26/2008: Hiding Taskbar 16:09:20.9 2/26/2008: Is Media Center running? 16:09:20.9 2/26/2008: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values 16:09:21.0 2/26/2008: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode 16:09:21.0 2/26/2008: Media Center Mode 2 16:09:21.1 2/26/2008: Video previews on. 2. no. windows xp pro with sp2. same exact os as before when it worked.
  3. last 3 versions have given me this error box: 01:37:40.4 2/26/2008: GameEx: Version 9.13: Starting Log 01:37:40.4 2/26/2008: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 01:37:40.4 2/26/2008: Operating System Name: Windows XP 01:37:40.4 2/26/2008: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 01:37:40.5 2/26/2008: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 01:37:40.5 2/26/2008: .net Framework 2.0 Installed 01:37:40.5 2/26/2008: Intel® Core(tm)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz, 1022MB 01:37:40.5 2/26/2008: 1.87Ghz - 2 Cores or CPU's 01:37:40.5 2/26/2008: Running Randomize() 01:37:40.5 2/26/2008: Loading PlugIns 01:37:40.8 2/26/2008: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 01:37:40.8 2/26/2008: Running Misc startup tasks 01:37:40.8 2/26/2008: Setting Menu types 01:37:40.8 2/26/2008: Opening Configuration File 01:37:40.8 2/26/2008: Getting Configuration Values 01:37:40.9 2/26/2008: Using Theme: Default - Media Center 01:37:40.9 2/26/2008: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - Media Center 01:37:40.9 2/26/2008: Launching HideOS.exe 01:37:40.9 2/26/2008: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 01:37:41.0 2/26/2008: Hiding Taskbar 01:37:41.1 2/26/2008: Is Media Center running? 01:37:41.1 2/26/2008: Checking/Creating LCD Registry values 01:37:41.1 2/26/2008: Check Media Center Exit/Start Mode 01:37:41.1 2/26/2008: Media Center Mode 2 01:37:41.2 2/26/2008: Video previews on. 4. my x-arcade parts haven't budged at all with any versions of gameex. i never used the setup wizard, i just edited the "custominput.ini" file in .\GameEx\CONFIG\ (install dir) use the "scancodes.txt" in the same folder to find the correct keyboard keys. i went ahead and added that file to this post just in case it's been removed in the newer versions. hope this helps scancodes.txt
  5. where did you find the torrent files? i can't find any from my usuall sources. let me know, please.
  6. it seems to me there is almost a new version every week. sometimes multiple in a week. i like the idea about the smaller, partial updates but since i have a fast connection, it doesnt really matter to me. the round number update isn't really necisary. i think when a lot of new content is added, tom bumps the version number up a large notch to emphasize the changes/additions to gameex. also, the smaller incremental updates are neccisary sometimes as new features cause new behaviors and a quick patch to fix the problem(s) is necisary. those are my thoughts.

    Escape for Jnes

you may need to set the "map keys" in the emulator's config screen (gameex config). look for this entry/option: old version of gameex: Emu_# Map Keys new version of gameex: Map Keys set "map keys" to "yes" this should make it return when you hit esc. theres also the chance that that emu is busted (i don't have it, so i dont really know). can you exit out of it normally when you run it without gameex? or do you always have to do the ctrl+alt+delete? if you always have to do the crtl+alt+delete, i'd say the emu is broken. if it's not busted and the "map keys" option doesnt do the trick, then i dont know what the problem is.
  8. if the iso's still don't show once all the files are in the same folder, try adding a semicolen to the end of your filter config text: *.bin;*.cue;*.iso; you could also try to move the "*.iso;" to the first slot to check if it works there rather than at the end. don't know if that'll help or not but thought i'd post anyhow.
  9. captavuu;gt2kt500;pacman;umk3r11;primrage;kf2k5uni; these games are: captain america and the avengers, golden tee 2000 tournament, pacman, ultimate mortal kombat 3, primal rage and king of fighters 2005 (10th aniversry collection).
  10. you can add a game to the "don't filter these roms" list in the cofig window. this is what i've been doing but i can't escape the idea that a great game i've forgoten is missing from my list.
  11. i love the theme editor and the ability to move the image and list boxes around. i do have a few questions for you: - is there a way to remove the rectangular background color of the selection screen? - i can't seem to save my themes using the "file->save" option. i can save just fine by selecting "file->save as" and overwritting the current theme.ini but the "file->save" gives me a pop-up box saying, "An error has occured while attempting to save the theme". i'm sorry that i don't have more info to give you on this but i couldn't find a theme editor log to submit with this post. - is there a standard format youd like us users to use for submitting tests for the theme editor?
  12. With the same settings, my list is showing 2674 (i dont know why i get 2 more roms than you). This is a good improvement to my 21XX but there still is no pacman and no ultimate mortal kombat. I do agree with you, tom. i have no interest in those crazy titles like "super majong crack hack prototype" but i am curious about why pacman still isn't showing up and what normal games arent being entered into the game list. but even with this occurence, this is still the best front end out there.
  13. i've used WinRAR to grab the files/roms that I want to keep. you can make an archive and tell it in wildcard form which files to include and which to exclude, if any. its a real life saver.
  14. unfortuanatly, i can't help you but i did have a similar problem. everytime i went to a mame game that had a movie, gameex would crash. the movies were divx avi's. i also had some mpg vid's that did play fine, though. i think it has something to do with gameex dealing with avi's or, specifically, the divx format. best of luck...
