  1. I dunno if this has been mentioned: I've been tinkering with Meedio, and the media browsing features are pretty nice. My favorites features: The front end will detect all the movies you have in a folder and download info for them such as synopsis, coverart, actor info, actor photos, rating, and so on. You can then click on the actors and see their info and it'll show you what other movies they are in that you own. Then you can click on the other movie and go to that. The front end will scrape other sites like IMDB for the necessary info. It does this also for tv shows, and the browsing features are nice too. You can browse by cover like media center or coverflow like itunes. Selecting a tv series will show you an episode list, each episode with a synopsis and screenshot. Movie details Movie thumbnails actors movie browsing movie details TV series TV banners TV browsing with fanart more tv browsing I like meedio, and I switch back and forth between meedio and gameEx. I'd rather see GameEx with similar features so I could just use one program.
  2. whoops- i dunno why i typed zsnes. Yes, ESC does toggle fullscreen. So there's no way to use the commandline to use fullscreen? Maybe the configs that come with gameex should be updated. I'm starting to get nulldc working, I figured out my bios wasn't good. Plus I didn't have the most up to date nulldc.
  3. Ok, I just recently started setting up all my emulators on GameEx. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! With Neopop; I got the emulator working, but it doesn't always start in full screen. I have the command line like this: NeoPop-Win32.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -fullscreen I also tried: NeoPop-Win32.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -fullscr the config that came with gameex was: NeoPop-Win32.exe -fullscreen "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" which didn't work at all Also, sometimes when I hit esc to exit the emulator it changes from windowed to fullscreen or vice versa instead of exiting With stella: The emulator defaults to 800x600. I changed stdout.txt to my resolution, but it reverts back. Also, how do I have Gameex map the keys? I see the file called ZSNES V6.ini, seems this should do it. How do I make that work? I am also having issues with NullDC. It starts, but doesnt appear to load the image. I just get Nulldc windowed with a white screen I changed the cfg like another thread on here said to here is my ini: [Emulator_10] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=[Console] Sega Dreamcast (nullDC) TITLETEXT=Sega Dreamcast StartPageLogo=[Console] Sega Dreamcast {NTSC} ROMFilter=*.cdi;*.gdi RomPath=E:\EMULATORS\Dreamcast\CDimages SnapPath= TitlePath= BoxPath= CartPath= ManualPath= ControlPanelPath= InstructionsPath= WorkingPath=E:\EMULATORS\Dreamcast\NullDC MapKeys=True WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=False ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=False RemoveBrackets=True ShowDesktop=True Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=nullDC_100b1.exe -config ImageReader:DefaultImage="[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile=[Mapping On] Exit nullDC (Process Close) ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic=False DontShowInfo= PlaySelectionMusic=False SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame=False DATABASE=[Console] Sega Dreamcast GamesIn7Zips=False PlayInScreenSaver=False ShowMostPlayed=True RandomMostPlayed=False CDCheck=False CDCheckFile= [GENERAL] DumbyValue=

    zsnes issues

I'm having two issues with zsnes. 1. When I exit a game, the menu browsing in zsnes is slower. If I go to the start menu and return to zsnes, everything works again. 2. zsnes only plays some of my goodmerged roms. Most will go to a black screen, then return to GameEx. I switched to snes9x and I am not having any of these issues with that emulator. the Zsnes fullscreen is wider on my widescreen. With snes9x I have black bars on both sides. So I think I'd rather use zsnes if it wasn't for the issues.

    USB sounds

When I enter or exit an emulator, I hear a usb disconnect/reconnect sound. What is causing this, and what can I do to stop it?
  6. I didn't see new under the setup wizard- I gotta look again. So I can't put weather on the start page without flat menus? bummer When I enter or exit a game in an emulator I hear a usb disconnect/reconnect sound. What is causing that, and can I remove it? thanks for the help
  7. OOH! Try it out! I'm probably gonna order 2 tonight. I wanna know how they are, especially the d-pad!!
  8. One of the reviews on Newegg says that the customer had great results with Project64. The controller allows you to adjust the analog sticks with the software it comes with. So far it is one of the best reviewed controllers I have come across. The only complaint I see is that the holes the analog sticks are in are square shaped, so you can't push the controller all the way and have a smooth circular motion. You must hold it a little away from all the way pushed. If the 360 d-pad isn't good for fighters, looks like I might go with the logitech.
  9. Do you find that it works well with emulators? My main concern is the d-pad with fighters, but also things like the analog stick with Project64 and NullDC.
  10. I recently built an HTPC for my living room with emulators and I am now shopping for wireless controllers. Does anyone have and controllers they have had good experiences with? I mostly play Street Fighter and my controller of choice is a ps2 controller. Right now I use a USB adapter. I would prefer to use a wireless PS3 controller, but I can't find any drivers out there that don't use the USB wire. Here are the 3 controllers I am looking at now: wireless 360 controllers. I like them mostly for the variety of accessories such as charger docks: Charger Dock I think these controllers would be great for everything else besides fighting games. I just don't think I will get used to the D-Pad. Does anyone know what the guide button does on a pc? I heard it has no function with the wired controllers, but does with the wireless. The 2nd controller I am looking at is a ps2 knock-off: Divineo I like the idea of it, but I am afraid a no-name brand will not be durable and the quality will suck. Plus I'm afraid the D-Pad might not feel as good as a PS2. My 3rd option that I am swaying towards: Logitech Controller It attempts to imitate the PS2 controller, has great customization options, long battery life, and great reviews on Newegg. You can even set up an analog stick to act as a mouse. My only fear is that I will not like the D-pad. Anyone have any strong opinions out there about any controllers?
  11. I'm new to GameEx, and I love it. I avoided it for a long time because of the media center look and the donation thing. But I actually built a media center pc recently, and this FE is a perfect fit with what I wanted. I was hoping to get some answers before rooting through the forum on some of these questions: 1. Can I remove the news menu selection? 2. Can I place the weather selection on the start menu rather than in the sub category it is in? 3. When playing DVDs from the HDD, can I use ISO files as well as the t-Video folders? Or do I have to extract them? 4. Can I have a folder system in a romlist like the videos section does? I have some sets like Genesis divided into categories, but when I select the rom folder, it finds no roms unless they are in the root rom folder instead of sub folders. 5. Can I have artwork with my videos? I get a video preview on each, but I'd like to have dvd covers as well. 6. I haven't tried pc games yet, but it appears I just choose a rom folder full of shortcut links? I have some games that will require an input before playing. For example, Melty Blood has a little menu that pops up asking to choose a resolution and fullscreen/windowed. I would have to have the FE send an "enter" command to pass that menu quickly. Since this is just on some games, will I have to have a separate PC Games list for those by themselves? Or can I incorporate that list with my PC games list? 7. I've had no real issues setting up emulators yet, except with atari. Which emu works best with this FE? I think I was using Stella. The issues I had was at full screen, the game is kind of to one side instead of stretched to fill the entire screen. Plus the controls don't seem to be set up right when I import the config. Do I have to set up the configuration in the emu itself? 8. Is there a simple way to reorganize what order emulators appear in on the emulator menu? Any help is appreciated!!
  12. I'm new to GameEx, and haven't used it much yet. I plan on building an htpc this weekend, then I will decide on a front end. My question is with GameExtender, is it possible to not have the screen in 4ths? Like can I just have the boxart or title screen show by itself? Also, can this be displayed on an htpc case with an lcd in it? Such as one of the ones with the touchscreens? I'd love to just have the boxarts from roms, cds, and dvds to be the only thing showing on the secondary display.

    hi def themes

Are there any Hi Def or widescreen themes with animated backgrounds? I love the Abyss with that liquid swirling thing, but it looks a little grainy blown up. I'd love to have it in better quality
  14. found this good review: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/multimedi...ach-mozart.html shows me that I can use the remote and display without their mediaplayer software. edit: ok so I decided to go with one of the cases in that review because I like the sound of it, but I can't get one! Can anyone help me out? Thermaltake Bach - VB8001BNS or VB8001SNS or Thermaltake Mozart VC4001SNS all I can find are the models without the remote and screen or them for sale in Europe or Australia for twice the price they were offered in the US. If I get a case without the medialab, is the medialab sold separately the same thing? Or is it going to sit behind a window and look different? For those of you who don't know, the case without the remote and screen still have a window and the medialab is sold seperately. Anyone have any experience with this issue?
  15. cool thanks. I just found out about LCD smartie, is there a list of cases that it works on? And can I use the MCE remote with the infrared receivers built in to some cases?
