  1. I have a 3-screen full size cabinet that had been running Windows 7 on with PinballX and Visual Pinball 9.2, 9.9, and 10.3. PinballX was installed in Sept 2016. (I'm not sure which version that is.) Everything worked great. PinballX was much better than the old Hyperspin install I had been using for years. Recently, I decided to get a new SSD and install Windows 10. Reinstalled all VP programs with the latest version of PinballX. Visual Pinball (all versions) work fine when launched standalone and tables load , play, and exit properly without issue. So I started by configuring PinballX using the exact setup parameters as the old install. I loaded a single table for each of the versions of Visual Pinball that I use (9.2, 10.3, 10.4) with backglass and playfield videos. BUT when launched from the newest version of PinballX, the 9.2 table crashes on exit. The 10.4 table loads but does not play (You see the playfield but cannot interact with it.). Like I said, all tables work fine when being run from the standalone VP executable. And in all cases, it takes about 15 seconds for the tables to load and about 15 seconds for the tables to exit which is much longer than the old install of PinballX. I tried several suggestions like running PinballX in Windows 7 compatibility mode and running as administrator. No difference. I saved the old PinballX install directory on an external drive from the previous install so I fired up PinballX from there to see if the older version had the same problems. Of course, the program quits before loading, asking me to download the latest version. So I unplugged the Internet, ran setup to point PinballX to the new VP executables, and then ran Game Manager and configured the 3 tables. Running the old version of PinballX, all tables load quicker and exit within a few seconds unlike the new version. The VP 9.2 table starts and exits without crashing and the 10.4 table starts and plays properly. And this is without using compatibility mode or running as admin. The old version just works! So there is something very different between the version I downloaded circa September 2016 and the newest version. The tables, media, and VP executables are exactly the same but the newer version of PinballX is having issues using the same files. Is there any way to have the PC connected to the Internet and still use the old version? Like maybe a switch on the PinballX executable that stops it from looking for a newer version? I have no problem using the old version as long as it works. I'd rather not have to waste more hours troubleshooting the newest version if I have one that works. I guess I can leave the PC unplugged from the Internet, but that is kind of a PITA.
