  1. I just wanted to thank those who visited my Instructable from the GameEX community, and I wanted to mention that It has just been featured on both the main site (Under 'Featured') and under the 'Play' category
  2. A few months back I decided to build an emulation based console into an Atari 2600, because I felt I could do better than another autographed casemod floating about on the web - Anyway,my project is now on Instructables - http://www.instructables.com/id/Atari-SX2600-a-fairly-complete-Atari-2600-emulatio/
  3. Replying to own topic : seems to be some sort of accidental regression -verifysets was replaced with -verifyroms in GameEx 4.97 - So why I'm seeing this now is a bit uncertain. -Though it is true I have had GameEx for quite some time, so I may have very well owned a version dating before 4.97. Is this contained in a config file that I can edit ?
  4. Ive encountered a small problem that results in only 240 or so games becoming available in MAME after a verify- This occurs using my own compiled Mame64, Mame64u3 and the standard build of MAMEUI64 I believe the problem is evident in the log.. Part of the problem could be the switch -verifysets I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure it is -verifyroms now,,, Anyway - Thanks for looking, and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, etc etc..
  5. Sadly, M3 didn't help - the problem isn't the mouse pointer defaulting to the wrong screen, the problem is the mouse pointer must be on the wrong screen to control the right screen. Well, I decided to ignore the problem for now, by converting to arcade controls instead of mouse.
  6. Same problem but on the other monitor - gameex shows on one monitor, the mouse pointer on the other, and when I move the mouse on the other monitor, the GameEx menu responds as if the mouse is on the proper monitor.
  7. Well, the topic says it all, really. When I set GameEx to run on the secondary monitor, it moves there as it should, but the mouse pointer stays on the primary monitor. I need to keep the pointer on the primary to control the secondary - which is odd. This issue only affects GameEx - everything else seems to run fine, with the pointer in the right place. Thanks for your time. -Miskie.
  8. I have found an alternative, that I would think would be a real easy GameEx implementation... http://www.lyricsplugin.com The site generates a webpage containing lyrics to a song via this format.. http://www.lyricsplugin.com/wmplayer03/plugin/?artist=[ARTIST]&title=[TITLE] The page output is straightforward HTML. Ive fed it a variety of song titles and artists and it seems to have a very complete database. When it cant find a result, it outputs only the title and artist as entered into the URL. Thanks. -M.
  9. Hi, I have a cabinet running GameEx on two screens, the top one is a 15 inch Touchscreen, and the bottom is a 27 inch CRT. The GameEx interface runs on the touchscreen, and when an emulator is selected, a script is run that makes the CRT the main display, the game presents on it, and the Touchscreen ends up displaying Marquee data. Upon exit, the reverse happens, sending GameEx back to the touch screen. This works just fine. My question is this, Is it possible to separate integrated GameEx functions, so they can be directed to different screens in a multi monitor setup ? For example, play a DVD on one monitor, while keeping the transport controls on another, or perhaps music selection on one, and visuals on a second ? - You get the idea. I have tried setting up a hotkey I can use to force GameEx to move from screen to screen, but this method angers DirectX, and ultimately results in crashing GameEx. Thanks - Miskie.
  10. Hi, One of the things I use GameEX for alot is the jukebox functions, and I am also quite fond of the lyric fetching feature that was built into it, using the LyricWiki API - Sadly, it seems due to licensing issues, the API is mostly useless in its current form. Are there any substitutes on the horizon ?
  11. So, Ive been working with the cabinet and the PinMame/Visual Pinball set -- which I have working just fine when everything is unzipped beforehand. Is it possible to run the games from zipfiles using the Zipfile feature of GameEx ? If it is, I am doing something wrong since Visual Pinball complains about missing files and exits. Any help would be appreciated, as would letting me know if this is even possible Thanks for your time.
  12. Another thing you might want to inspect is what kind of thermal paste was used to mount the fan onto the CPU - many of them come with this thick bubblegum like crap on them that really does no good at all for cooling -- if thats the case, scrape that crap off, get yourself some silver thermal compound and use that instead. -- just a thin ribbon is all you need -- A better connection between CPU and fan = better conductivity = happiness
