  1. That is because of a couple of major changes I just saw as I got this game to try it out. According to MAME's WIP for 1941: - 0.148u5: Sonikos fixed 'Difficulty' dipswitch which has in the tab menu values from 1 (easiest) to 8 (hardest) but in the game's menu it's from 0 to 7. So if your version is after 0.148u5, difficulty will be from 0-7, so 3 is correct. Earlier versions should make sure it's 4. Also: - 0.145u5: Techmotour added 1941: Counter Attack (World 900227). Renamed (1941) to (1941r1). This is also a big change because on versions after 0.145u5, the game is totally different. I played this game before in MAME, but what I must have been playing previous to this is what is now the 1941r1 set. The stages are changed in the new official parent ROM. What used to be Stage 1 in 1941r1 is now Stage 3, and you start in this version on what used to be Stage 2 in 1941r1. I would suggest perhaps for all who are playing it this month to use a version later than 0.145u5 so we all play the same game. Keep in mind again, the difficulty to set is 4 (Normal) from versions 0.145u5-0.148u5. All versions after 0.148u5 will be 3 (Normal).
  2. It was a great month, nice to see all the activity! But as the IGBY finishes up, I had more time to play this again. Just to give myself a little space.... ExedExes - 145,900
  3. @rtkiii - I don't remember if that game requires a Vs. System Bios, but it looks like the version of the ROM we're using was made the official parent set in 0.147. If you want to play what we are, I'd suggest getting a MAME version 0.147 or greater. (I'm using 0.173, needs an update)
  4. I totally forgot about this game. I've been so busy try to stay on top of the IGBY (still #1 scorer on our combined GX team) and a little thing called Pokemon Go. This Vs. edition is far better than what we got on the NES! We're also doing Vs. Super Mario Bros. during the IGBY, which contained some of the "Lost Levels" of the Japanese SMB2! ExedExes - 95,470
  5. The first and third are best. With purple items they can be powered up. You have to duck to use grenades.
  6. Entering BayRoute.... with a score! ExedExes - 83,700
  7. It was another good month here @ the GOTM, I just couldn't beat that score. Had I completed the game, I probably would have ended up just short of RedDog's performance. Congratulations! I also run a monthly high score competition over at Racketboy, but the focus is on shmups. Since the inception of that in 2012, the numbers have also been dropping off. I understand, life gets in the way, especially in the summer, and the games we pick get less mainstream and more obscure. We got a good slate coming up starting in August, so I expect the crowds to hopefully re-gather. What I'm trying to say is that I know what it's like running a competition with no activity, but it hasn't stopped me from continuing to present it as well as organize it. I also had thoughts of shutting down, but what good would it do? I'm sure the same situation(s) of our regulars are also happening here. It's the summer! Unfortunately because of this, our GameEx team for the Internet Gaming Bash of the Year starting on Tuesday only has 2 members this year (me and Mame Offender), so we're going to be merging with Atari Age and Team PNS. I will provide my finest performance to represent GameEx! Even with that going on, I will continue to participate in the new games this month over here. I appreciate all that GC and Han have done for us, and I'm looking forward to BayRoute, since I suggested this game. If the GOTM was really in any danger of going under, I'd have a lot more banners under my signature

    igby 2016

A fast heads up on the IGBY. I was contacted by one of the organizers for this tournament on the Donkey Kong Forums and it looks like any GameEx members who are going to play will be merged with the players from the teams that don't have enough to make their own teams. This 6th team will be more than likely consisting of members from Aussie Arcade, Team PNS, and Retro Uprising. If you want to register, I would suggest getting in ASAP so that we can get an accurate count of how many people will be forming Team 6. You don't have to play everything nor do you have to play everyday; we have a lot of top talent in this combined team and of course I'll be there. If you want to play, just go to http://tournaments.twingalaxies.com/#/event/igby2016/main and be sure to join team GameEx, do so as soon as you possibly can. Thank you!
  9. Made it to Willy with the one-shot kill (now I remember that) ExedExes - 92,850
  10. Last month was fun but there was no way I could touch that score. Now, THIS game..... I was able to play a lot of free arcade games when I was much younger because we had a local indoor center in town that was open at night to the younger folk and it had all sorts of activities to do like pool, basketball, air hockey, etc. and they had an arcade with a ton of classic games, this was one of them! I got good, and I got good real fast. But I'd always use continues to get to the end. On a credit, I managed to get to mission 4 and then get messed up by the traps there early on, even though the enemies really don't give me any issues. I will say this -- don't scroll the screen too quick so you only have to deal with one enemy at a time, and do NOT fall into a pit on your last life or you will be unable to enter a name so I had to play this again to get the screenshot and I did just a little bit better. 11. Great Crap Tournament performance. 4th overall and a #1 score! GO IGBY!

  12. So this game returns from IGBY 2. It's a flashback to IGBYs this month. My marquee for this would be Bump N Spy Jump Hunter because it reminds me of both those games. I remember doing pretty decently at this last year, but here's a score. ExedExes - 156,160 it's even name entry friendly
  13. So yeah. From the IGBY to playing this at Racketboy for our Shmup of the Month back in December, I think I can get around this game. I also tried it on that Raiden Legacy collection on PC and mobile devices. My favorite is still the second one with the toothpaste laser and the first Raiden Fighters (JUDGE SPEAR!) The flying "thingy' would be the Fairy, a staple of the Raiden series, always hidden, when picked up, will give you a ton of weapons and bombs when you die. So yeah. I know how well M.O. did on this at IGBY 1, but just to get on the board. ExedExes - 368,020
  14. Looking at rtkiii's submission, I think he was using the original Irem set and not MPatrolW as the first post had. All of our screenshots on the correct set have Williams and not Irem.
  15. Oh dear there's still activity here. ExedExes - 87,130
  16. Here I was thinking Moon Patrol was gonna be the GOTM, then I remember Han saying that GC still had what he wanted to do. It's ok because I'm familiar with this from the 60-in-1s. ExedExes - 51,650
  17. Good time to be doing this, as my competitive streak from the Yolympics hasn't ended! This was also in IGBY 2014. Using the current settings (5 lives/10k extra only) on the Williams set for MP (taken @ the copyright screen since no initials are possible here) ExedExes - 79,900
  18. Hi all! Now that the Yolympics are over, and my team came from behind in the last hour of the tour from 3rd to tie for 1st, I am more than excited at that result. I'm ready to return here! Looking through what I have on MAME now that satisfy the outlined requirements: Bay Route Cadillacs and Dinosaurs Desert Assault Exerion Growl Pinball Action Twin Cobra Twin Eagle II: The Rescue Mission That's it for now, but I can get a few more if needed.
  19. Team Verizontal came from 3rd to tie for 1st @ Yolympics! GET HYPE!

wtg thumb bandits :) Doing GE proud.

  20. I'm back! Well, sort of. I just submitted this score at the Yolympics, and they're using the same settings we are here. This is my 2nd one-credit completion in the tournament, and to finally say I have beaten this game is awesome. ExedExes - 242.5
  21. Just drafted a solid Yolympics team. Sadly missing Mame Offender, however...

  22. That's my position on this as well. I've been here watching all the latest developments and I was one of the few that played the Christmas comp. I've been busy with stuff off the computer as well. Plus, the Yolympics are coming up in a couple of weeks, I'm going to be a team captain there. Not much any of us can do until we hear back from GC. The next GOTM that comes up, you know I'll be here for it!
  23. Time to do this. Snow Bros 2 - Played this on the old Ultracade machines. I like it a lot better than the first game, which I didn't do too well at on the GOTM. ExedExes - 583,170 Pengo - Familiar with this one, a classic! ExedExes - 63,750 Alpine Ski - This is on Taito Legends 2, so I've played it quite a bit. ExedExes - 63,735 Hit The Ice - I was expecting this to be a little more fast paced. There's also a graphic glitch with the ice marks. ExedExes - 7 (10-3) Mario Bros. - A bit of a stretch with this one already as GOTM, eh? Adultery's right, there's a Vs. Ice Climber release for the arcades. ExedExes - 131,110 Extreme Downhill - This one we post best time, right? I went to Twin Galaxies and they count times in Time Attack mode, so that was the mode I played. If this isn't correct I'll play again. ExedExes - 1'01"252
