  1. Is there an easy way to upgrade, and preserve all my settings? I can’t even launch PinballX to start the automatic update.
  2. PinballX will not start. Here's the LOG.txt 19:07:07.32 11/19/2021: PinballX - Version 4.80 x64 19:07:07.38 11/19/2021: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (32GB) 19:07:07.38 11/19/2021: Loading Settings 19:07:07.43 11/19/2021: Initialize Component 19:07:07.44 11/19/2021: Initialize Display 19:07:07.51 11/19/2021: Testing Flash engine. 19:07:08.57 11/19/2021: Loading PlugIns 19:07:08.58 11/19/2021: Loaded Plugin:"Xpadder Plugin" Version 1.0.1 By Adultery 19:07:08.63 11/19/2021: PlugIn: "Xpadder Plugin" Initialized OK 19:07:08.63 11/19/2021: Using Plugin System Version: 1 19:07:08.68 11/19/2021: Error. 3. Thanks for the ideas. I will not be able to test for a couple days now. I'll let you know how it works. I'll have to look up Joy2Key, but I would think I should be able to get it to work without any utilities? Maybe not.
  4. Still hoping for some help on this. I can't use PinballX without using the buttons on my cabinet, and I can't figure it out. Thanks!
  5. I'm not sure if I've just missed a really simple step or what, but my key mappings in Visual Pinball are not working after launching a table from PinballX. All my key mappings work fine when playing a table directly in Visual Pinball, and also work fine using Hyperpin/FPLaunch. I have a VirtuaPin cabinet, and use the buttons on the cabinet to control everything. I was able to map the buttons to navigate the menus in PinballX just fine, but as soon as I load a table, I lose all the key mappings? It seems odd since I thougth the key mappings would come from Visual Pinball, but something gets screwy somewhere, and I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
  6. Tom and everyone, thanks for your replies. I agree, I just need to be more careful, and Tom, thanks for confirming the issue with the startup video being set to True. Looking forward to all the developments on this new pinball frontend!

    FPLaunch?

I'm not sure I've figured out how to map the keys once you get into a game in Visual Pinball? I've got the keys all assigned to handle navigation and all within PinballX, but when I load a pinball table, my assigned keys don't work in Visual Pinball? My "coin" and "start" buttons don't do anything?
  8. Problem solved. In the settings file I had: [Startup]Playsound=TruePlayvideo=TrueI changed them to: [Startup]Playsound=FalsePlayvideo=FalsePinballX loads now. I just have to figure out how to map the keys the same as Hyperpin. Is there no startup video?
  9. As a followup, I have found the culprit of the ads and popup ads that I consider "malware" that was installed with the Shark codecs. It was a very concealed part of the install as you can see here: First time around I simply clicked on "Next >" without reading closely enough. I have UNINSTALLED the shark codecs along with a program it installed called "Lyrics Pal" and the ads are not showing up anymore. Regardless, I wouldn't recommend Shark codecs personally as they try to conceal the install of what I consider malware. I was getting very innapropriate popup ads and also ads that were placed right on google search pages, and even pages other than google. BE CAREFUL what you agree to and hit "Next" on installing anything these days!! I let my guard down a bit. With all that said, I still can't launch PinballX. I just get black screens.
  10. So I thought I'd give PinballX a try since I'm having an issue with Hyperpin, and I've used GameX in the past on my arcade cabinet. Just got a brand new VirtuaPin cabinet for pinball. Downloaded PinballX, installed and set up. When I launch, I get nothing but a black screen. Only way out is to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, and then manually kill pinballx in the Task Manager. So, I go back to the home page, and I see this: Video codecs are a requirement. Shark Codecs are the recommended solution. I USE THE LINK provided on the PinballX home page, and it takes me to: http://shark007.net/ I click on "Windows XP/Vista" (I'm running Windows XP). I should have been on alert from all the ads with "Download" buttons, but I found a trusted source for download: MajorGeeks. I click on the MajorGeeks mirror link, and get taken to: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/vista_codec_package.html After installing this codec, it did NOT fix PinballX - it still starts to a black screen, and I have to hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, and manually kill the process. But the WORST PART is that the Shark codec I downloaded and installed from MajorGeeks installed MALWARE on my system!!!!! I would suggest you STOP RECOMMENDING it immediately Mr. Spiers. I am not a happy camper at all at the moment, not to mention I can't get PinballX to work at all.
  11. Could you share the name of the log viewer program you used? Is it freeware/shareware? Thanks.
  12. Thanks for the tips everyone, and thanks Tom for fixing this in an upcoming release!
  13. Okay, I've been searching for an answer to this and can't find it, so I thought I'd post. Is there any way to remove the HTML link that arcade-history has started adding to the History.dat file from showing up in GameEx? I'm not sure which version they started adding this link, but you can see this header for each game in the History.dat file: $info=88games, $<a href="http://www.arcade-history.com/?n='88-games&page=detail&id=1&o=2" title="Edit this entry at Arcade-History.com">Edit this entry at Arcade-History.com</a> $bio Is there a setting in GameEx somewhere to skip this line that includes the html link? It shows up in my game information in GameEx. If not, Tom, is there a way you could make it start skipping this line when importing the history.dat info? Also, is there any way to tell GameEx which sections of the history.dat to import? I noticed that it skips the secions: - TECHNICAL -, - TRIVIA -, - TIPS AND TRICKS -, - STAFF -, - SCORING -, and maybe others. Some of these sections, I'd like to see in the game information screen on GameEx. Tom, is there a way I could edit the history.dat to include these sections in the game info screen in GameEx?
  14. Was this ever added? Thanks...
  15. SWEET!! Thanks for listening Tom!! This would be really cool. I would have NO need for any other front end program if this were implemented. Do you think there'd be any way to add the Year and Manufacturer information other than by hand (so you could sort on them)?
