Can you make this match with the names in the GameEx databases? I have a lot of files that don't have spaces in them, and the GameEx databases (DreamCast specifically) keep the spaces. Thus, while in GameEx, none of the database information gets displayed because my roms/images/etc. don't match the database name.

Thanks!

I considered matching to dat names, which is what the database uses, but I felt it was not within the scope of what I wanted Skinny Match to accomplish. You can use ClearMamePro to rename your roms, and then Skinny Match to match your artwork to your corrected rom names. Having said that, what do your file names look like? If I can create a script relatively quickly to help you, I will.

I didn't know that I could do that with ClearMamePro... I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the script offer. If I can't get the other method to work, I might hit you up for that!

Thanks again Tempest for this. I could be overlooking something but i just wanted to ask. I was recently comparing my roms to my preview videos and clicked on 'Miss List' i think. It gave my a list of unmatched games in a window - i tried to copy and paste the contents of the list but it wouldn't allow me. Is there anyway of doing this ?

Thanks,
ian.

Hi. I just noticed that download version in the thread is 1.04 while the current version is 1.05. Not sure if the new version addresses the bug you seen but it's worth trying 1.05 first. I think i downloaded 1.05 from the emumovies site which is down at the moment.

Truly super tool! Nice one Matt!

Little problem I'm having, quite common I guess so worth pursuing:

If I want (DE) in the jpg name to always match (Germany) in the ROMname
likewise (EU) should always match (Europe)
(US) should always match (USA)
(KO) matches (Korea)
and (JP) matches (Japan)

Is there anything I can do about that from the interface?

thanks

Bump!

Can anyone pin this somewhere... it's a great program, seriously, one of the best/easiest I've used yet.

Big question... would it be worth it to have GameEx specific tools? Meaning, a rom renamer based on the GameEx databases. Then tie it into an artwork renamer?

I ask because GameEx allows you to really clean-up the rom names nicely, but in doing so it also inadvertantly allows grammatical/spelling errors in the ROM names to show as well. Plus there are a zillion different variations of the same game name for each indivdual database. It would be great to standarize the whole lot and have each game tie into one another when you look at the game's info page.

I am getting this done with my new databases, but for systems with over 1000+ games list, there is very little light in the tunnel.

IMB
IMBerzerk for not using GameEx years ago!!!

Topic has been moved to a more appropriate section. That way it will be easier for users to find.

Hey fReq - would it perhaps be more appropriate to pin the Applications and Guides thread started by Tempest to the Pinned Topics? It contains the link to Skinny Match in addition to the guides from your sig link, loaders, etc.

Done! Both should be well served here since it's a more appropriate place for them anyways.

Great little utility. I have one question though. What happens if you want to match one image for two or more roms. Say that one cart image would apply to both Zelda (USA) and Zelda (Europe). Can this utility create a copy of the image file to match this second rom? Or is this just going through and renaming the individual image files?

It looks like all you have to do is add \mp4 to ArtExtensions in Skinny.ini

Let me know if that doesn't work for some reason.
