GameEx display libraries have now moved from DirectDraw to Direct3D.

The benefits of moving to Direct3D are quite significant.

- Should run significantly better and faster on any vaguely modern hardware.
- Alpha Blending.
- PNG with transparancy support.
- Fewer driver incompatibalities.
- Proper anti aliased fonts.
- No more reliance on DirectDraw which Microsoft depreciated some time ago.
- Improved and smoother transition effects.
- Fast rotated display support.

Damn... Tried to highlight the EXIT section of the menu bar and my monitor just stopped outputting all video. Had to do a cold boot to get it back. Wonder what that was about? I'll post the log if it helps, but I have only seen this happen since the new rendering system came out. Suggestions? Advice?

The autoupdate installer jumped into italian language again for me but after the update installed ok, i changed the GameEx language back to english from the text/language configuration menu.

Ive just uploaded a new version (same version number) . Can you do me a favour and do a manual download and install, and tell me if it now defaults to english please?

Just downloaded the new version. The manual install went just smoothly, the installer had english chosen and i just clicked on the next and when the installer closed and i started GameEX, it was nicely in english.

But i am looking forward to next version of GameEX and using autoupdate and seeing what happens then, i hope the issue got fixed.

problems in videos, previews work great and fast, but when entering in anyone of the videos screen is black and in strech mode. have to press enter to go to original size(then i see the video), when entering one video, joysticks stop working (i use xarcade as windows joysticks, not keystrokes)

Ive fixed the video not showing at startup, but joysticks seem ok to me. Could you explain more about whats happening there?

What brand/model video card do you have? You may want to try disabling your anti-virus and installing the latest driver from the manufacturer.

Crazy thing is that I had two different things running under my Display Drivers tab... The ATI Radeon entry that should be there and something called MovRVDrv32 which shouldn't be. After I disabled that, I was able to go from 16 to 32 bit color, and everything looks great again. Don't know what that was or how it got there.

Either way it seems to be working great now.

@Mariozeferino: Go to gameex.net and click on the "Community" tab. Select the third option "Get a Gamer Tag" and follow the onscreen instructions.
