A description of ATRAC is here: http://en.wikipedia....Acoustic_Coding
The format is used in some video games. It would be awesome to be able to convert them. The CODEC itself appears to be open source and freely available.

I cant seem to convert that file. Is it a protected file? Does it play for you? Using what?

It must be protected. I hadn't even considered that. I haven't been able to play it, no, but I figured I was just doing something wrong.
Damn.

We have just installed this program to convert our ATRAC files ( used in Sony Connect music players) so that we can move them to a IPOD ie convert them to MP3. Every one failed ! ( these were not protected).
