Tempest
I'm glad it wasn't 3000 roms, because that would have been one helluva long post! After burner uses an adstick device, but I think you are going about this backwards...Use Romlister to find the games you do want (buttons only, 2way,4way etc.) and then use the batch command to copy the roms to a new folder... If you want help with the batch command, we will need to know the path to your roms. I.E. C:\Mame\romsBrowse to the folder where your roms are, then cut and paste the path from the explorer window into your next post.

Tempest
OK.Go to C:Emulators/Mame/ and create a new folder called "Myroms"In romlister (I'm using build 013) You check the options you want, and then click on "Go!". Romlister opens a new window that shows your working list. At the bottom of the window is a drop-down list with options (Atomic FE is shown) Select "Batch File" from the list of options, and then click on "Save List to File". Another window will open, and asks for a filename. I would call it "Keyboard only roms". It also asks where you want to save the file, just save it to the desktop. That window will close, and another will open. At the bottom of the window you will see "copy %ROM%.zip c:\mame\roms" Delete all of that, and replace it with "copy C:\Emulators\Mame\roms\%ROM%.zip C:\Emulators\Mame\Myroms", (I would cut and paste that into window... DO NOT USE THE QUOTES) then click on "OK". A file called "Keyboard only roms.bat" will be created on your desktop. Double click on the "Keyboard only roms.bat" file, and all of the roms you have selected will be copied to the new file that you made in the first step, C:Emulators/Mame/Myroms. Then you will have to tell Gameex to use the "Myroms" file for mame roms instead of "Roms", and you will have to "update List" in Gameex to see the changes.PHEW! (Have fun!) Tempest
Trigger would be a fire trigger like what might be found on a flight stick.Top fire would be a joystick with a fire button on top.I'm not sure, but I think a rotary stick actually had the ability to rotate (I don't know why or how...GOOGLE?)I made a change in my last post, so refresh your browser before you follow my directions. Tempest
You have to use romlister to get the roms you want first... if I search for 2 way, 4way, buttons only, and any number of buttons, I get 2447 roms! If you want fewer, you will have to change your search settings, and verify that the list you get is correct, before running the batch operation.... bkenobi
An example of a rotary game is Ikari Warriors. When you rotate the stick, the character turned.
clair
OK, got another little problem:I've figured out how to batch file and copy over to myroms folder etc. All well and good, however, for some reason, it's not including games that it should be including. For example, it has left out approx 80+ fighter/versus games - Art of Fighting 1, 2, and 3 for example. All in all, it's left out (incorrectly) over 500+ games and this is ON TOP of the correct omissions (trackball, spinner, lightgun etc). What have I done wrong? clair
Checked my mergelog, and I think I know why it's left out a lot of games. Below is a snippit:Unable to find sengoku2 in controls.xmlUnable to find bstars2 in controls.xmlUnable to find quizdai2 in controls.xmlUnable to find 3countb in controls.xmlUnable to find aof in controls.xmlThis is no good for me cos I love my aof plus many others its left out. What can I do about this guys?
bkenobi
Those games aren't in the controls.dat project. If you really want them, you will have to add them manually. There is another thread Tempest just started last week that was discussing updating the controls.xml file.
Tempest
Clair, the moment I met you, I swear... (I'm dating myself (I'm the only one who will put up with me! ))You need to run Romlister, click on "Settings and Tools", and browse for the three files at the bottom of thw window. In the first line, just point to your mame.exe. The second two lines ask for controls.xml, and catver.ini, both of these files can be found in "C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\". After you have those set, click on "Merge!", and Romlister will combine all three. I can't remember if you need to save the file or not, but it will prompt you if you need to. I believe that will aid you in achieving your goal...

Did you get everything working?Hi Tempest, it's fine I wasn't offended.I got everything working but Romlister is useless to me because it leaves out sooooooooooo many great games because they are not in the controls.ini. For example, Art of Fighting! It leaves out 100's of excellent games. So, it's useless to me.
clair
Is there any other way of filtering out all the analog games? Or does someone have a list of analog games that can actually work really well with digital sticks?I just hate it when my friends want to play a game and then they can't because it's analog.Makes me look stupid so i just want to filter them out.
