idea (possibly not great one):
option to set system master (or wave?) volume on app/emu launch and reset it on exit, for emulators that don't have their own volume control (i'm looking at Zinc right now) - ?
maybe an option for GameEx to set this when its started would be good also, in case GameEx crashes.

this must have already been mentioned, but in case:
it's not possible to have multiple rom paths for emulators (other than MAME?)

when i try:
RomPath=C:\Games\ROMs\Genesis\World;C:\Games\ROMs\Genesis\32X

14:47:23.3  30/07/2005:  Error: Emulator_10: ROMPath Does Not Exist
14:47:26.0  30/07/2005:  ERRORS DETECTED: EXITING

please allow this Tom!

RomPath=C:\Games\ROMs\Genesis\World
is fine.

Like if that's going to happen?

Just kidding.

Seriously not keen on your idea. Sorry.I may look at the multiple rom paths though.

Also, why cant you just change the volume in GameEx? Thats what the support is there for. Is it not working on your system?

Nice feature for a front end too, I think.

yeah its nice. you adjust the master slider with that control.
but, it doesn't do what i mean - and i know this isnt really your problem but youre the GameEx guy whos holding all this together so im gonna be cheeky and ask :)
i now have one emu much louder than the others, so i'm thinking of either turning them all up to 100% volume (probably easiest) or finding some other way to quiten down e.g. Zinc.

anyone know a command you can send windows (in a batch file) to set the master volume slider? then i could maybe do something with
LaunchBefore=
LaunchAfter=

i guess the other way would be to have an adjustment for GameEx's sound effects relative to the master volume (let them go louder than they are now?)
this is not very important though so no worries.

GamEx is coming along great.

now a while ago customizable control was added, but i can't see how to let two joysticks controls GameEx? i'd also like to customize the sticks' input so both the d-pad and axes can navigate. is there some instruction for this somewhere please someone?

Hey Smiff, ill look into mapping all game devices, I do like the idea. Its not possible to do the other thing at the moment.

Could you please email me so I can send you a key for the latest. Your welcome to it.

here's an idea, maybe - ability to label each path, for example where you add paths for pictures, i'd maybe label D: "CD-ROM" and the mapped network drive "main store" or sommat.. drive letters dont mean much to normal people :/

btw Tom your link to http://www.tweakxp.c...icle139326.aspx doesn't work?

The configuration application truncates them. I'll look at it.

That enables the Restore/Maximize button on the top right of the toolbar.
If GameEx is full screen, clickig it will make it into a window and vice versa.

Cheers.

Ideally I plan to automatically look up the volume label, drive type, or share name and display it when a drive on its own is added.

not sure where to put this, but i have a better integration for VisualBoyAdvance...
what you do is hack the exe with Resource Hacker to map Exit to escape and toggle menu to Enter, then sendkeys {enter} with GameEx, and disable MapKeys. took a couple of goes but now i have it working right :)

the relevant exe edits are:

VK_ESCAPE, 40002, NOINVERT, VIRTKEY
VK_RETURN, 40263, NOINVERT, VIRTKEY

and the GameEX config for this is:

[Emulator_7]
Enabled=True
STARTPAGENAME=Nintendo GBA games
TITLETEXT=Gameboy Advance games
StartPageLogo=GameBoyAdvance
ROMFilter=*.zip
RomsInFolders=False
RomPath=C:\Games\ROMS\GBA\
SnapPath=C:\Games\ROMS\GBA\Snaps\
WorkingPath=C:\Games\Emulators\VBA
MapKeys=False
WaitBeforeKeys=1000
SendKeys={enter}
ReplaceDash=True
ReplaceUnder=True
Capitals=True
RemoveBrackets=True
ShowDesktop=False
Debug=False
MAPFile=
AlsoLaunch=
Command=VisualBoyAdvance_EscapeExits_EnterTogglesMenu.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"
OLDatZip=
TitlePath=
BoxPath=
LaunchBefore=
LaunchAfter=
CartPath=

voila, seems to be perfect integration :)

edit: of course, you don't have to use ENTER, just take any key thats *not* escape and that you aren't using for anything else.

as a general point, is it possible to use OpenGL video plugins with GameEx. do you have to use ShowDesktop? is there any way around that, perahaps some very simple wrapper?

An OpenGL->DirectX wrapper ultimately behaves like a DirectX app, so I imagine that would work with "Show Desktop = false" okay.
