Xtro
Hi, I had my rig running on Windows 7 and with GameEx totally configurated. As I had some problems in Windows 7 to run some older emulators I decided to install Windows XP x64 SP1, now the emulators work but I cannot install GameEx. When I execute the GameEx setup program it does nothing.I have a copy of the GameEx Folder from my Windows 7 install, I can run it from Windows XP x64 but I have some problems, it loads very very slowly (minutes) and more important, when it's loaded and I select a game from super nes for example, when It goes to the submenu to run this game, there is no text, so I cannot execute it. Windows XP x64 has installed the Directx Runtime and dotNET 2, tried to install dotNET 3.5 but failed too.I am using GameEx latest version.Regards. nullPointer
It's getting harder to troubleshoot on older OS and whatnot (can you believe XP is 14 years old this year!?), but in this case I'm fairly certain it's related to your .NET framework issues. You need a minimum of .NET 3.5 for GameEx. Are you using a streamlined or nLited version of XP? AFAIK (or remember ), .NET 3.5 should install OK under XP. I unlocked it and worked flawlessly. Now GameEx loads faster but still I got the issue of not seeing any text in the menu to run the games, I can see the list of games, but when I select one of them I cannot execute it. The Recent Played List also doesn't show any game.I thought too that the problem is related to .NET 3.5, the XP I am using is called RetrOS and of course is nLited version for emulation purposes so it should be missing some components. .NET 3.5 starts to install, but always give an error before finishing. Any idea of what to try?Thank you very much.
tthurman
As I'm sure you're aware XP64 is basically a re-badge of server 2003. Over the years I've read very mixed reviews of running it in general, but throwing in a modified version of it in the mix automatically puts in the "unsupported" corner here. The inability of installing Net 3.5 is in itself a huge red flag. If this is your OS of choice, then why not just run it with a full out install? In the end, my guess is you'll have a much easier time with things.
Draco1962
Unfortunately we cannot troubleshoot any nlited or otherwise modified OS issues. There are too many variables to be considered in the OS alone of what may be missing that GameEx requires. If you install on a "vanilla" Windows version we will be glad to help. Xtro
Hi, I finally did a backup of my GameEx folder and then erased it. I reinstalled GameEx and now the menus work perfectly and it is a lot faster. Now the question is... which files I have to put back in my current GameEx folder so I don't have to reconfigure all emulators paths, etc? Thanks for the help.EDIT: The problem has to do with my gameex.ini file, only replacing that file causes the problem, I will continue to check
