[RESOLVED] PinballX Losing focus when switching tables

Jodannar

Recommended Posts

I am running the latest PinballX build on Windows 8. When scrolling through tables, if the executable is not set to run as an administrator, PinballX seems to lose focus and not recognise keyboard or button inputs. I need to alt tab back to get it to respond. I am using b2s backglassed in the front end and I suspect that they are stealing focus when loaded on scrolling to the next table. If I run PinballX as an administrator this issue disappears, but then table preview videos stall when scrolling. A video will play for the first table with a video, then when you scroll forward the next video won't play. Returning to the previous table video, it also no longer plays.

I am stumped. Thanks in advance.

We will need your support files, pinballx.ini and log.txt. Click the link in my signature for PinballX How to ask for Help for instructions on how to find the files and how to provide them to us. Also, what codecs are you using?

Thanks for that information. As of version 2.04 the Shark007 Codecs are not required and LAV codecs are all that is needed. You can continue to use Shark007. There is a link here for LAV if you wish to uninstall Shark007 and use these instead. I know that I have seen a slight increase in video loading speed since upgrading PinballX to the latest version and using LAV only.

According to the log.txt file, you are a version behind. The current version is 2.06. While the changes in 2.06 are not that many, I usually recommend that users ensure they are on the latest build prior to troubleshooting.

You may also want to ensure that you are running all apps (PinballX, B2S, Visual Pinball, etc.) as Administrator.

That said, it is possible that the issue is not PinballX directly, but something off in the B2S settings. I do not run this (yet) so maybe one or two of our other forum experts can chime in to review your files and assist.

I had read somewhere way in the past that having joystick settings in pinballx can screw it up so I have never had them in pinballX because I remove them when I first installed it so I don't know if that will solve your problem. But it's something to try...

Also try Turning off the b2s backglassed for the front end And Try videos

thanks for the help so far. I have updated to 2.06, no change. Removed joystick settings, no change. turned of D2BS and PINDMD in front end, no change. every app is running as administrator. I have tried windows XP SP3 compatibility mode also for Pinball X. No Change.

First 2 videos work, then every table after that a still of the 2nd video is displayed. Going to a table that has an image, displ;ays correctly, but next video preview is still a static of the last table video.

Hopefully you changed PinballX back from compatibiltiy with Win XP. Can you submit updated pinballx.ini and log.txt files (we really need to see the log.txt file from when the error is occuring if at all possible).

Tell us something about your GPUs. Per the log.txt file you are running two video cards - a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti and a Intel® HD Graphics 4600 (assuming that this is onboard video). Which one is running the playfield videos?

There are quite a few mp4 videos. I wonder what happens if you were to replace some of the flv with mp4?

If the on board video isn't being used it probably wouldn't hurt to disable it if possible.
