[RESOLVED] Displaying game bezels while playing

designone

Recommended Posts

Hi

Is it possible to have the Space Invader deluxe bezel display while playing the game.

I have Missile Command running and it displays the Bezel, is that just the way the game is set up or is there something I can do to have it display around the game much like the real machine looked.

Sorry, I am new to this frontend and it will take a little time to figure it out.

It seems like a great program and it has so many options I am looking forward to having it set up the way I like.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you

I believe it has to do with the version of Mame you are using. (Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) I have it working on my arcade at home...I'm away on business at the moment, but as soon as I get home (around Thursday or Friday), I'll check my settings and will let ya know something in more detail if you haven't figured it out by then :-).

Hi thurmansevolution,

I was hoping somehow it would work. If it is the mame I'm using I'll change it. What do you have to do with the image to get it to display. I have put it in almost every folder so I think Ive got that covered and I've named it the same as the rom but like you said it may be the version of mame.

Thank-you

You won't get too far without posting your settings and logs, we need that info to determine if it's MAME or GameEx. ;)

Hi there designone!

It's been a while but if i recall, you need to have all your bezels, .lay files etc all zipped up (per romname) in a folder/directory in your base MAME directory called "artwork".

Once you have this, point GameEx to this directory in the Setup Wizard, under> MAME Settings> Artwork Preview Path.

Once you have established this, boot GameEx, go to MAME, scroll down and click Update List.

If you still have no joy then open your mame.ini (found in your base MAME directory). Find this:

## CORE ARTWORK OPTIONS#artwork_crop 0use_backdrops 0use_overlays 0use_bezels 0use_cpanels 0use_marquees 0

Then, change it to this:

## CORE ARTWORK OPTIONS#artwork_crop 1use_backdrops 1use_overlays 1use_bezels 1use_cpanels 0use_marquees 0

Click File> Save, OR press CTRL+S on keyboard. Reboot GameEx and launch a MAME game.

Oh OK, i'm still back on .154. My apologies but on MAME .161+ everything changed, and i believe GameEx changed too in that regard. I'm terribly sorry but i'm gonna have to hand you over to anyone who is running .161. Just keep providing them files that you gave us earlier, (new versions when asked) and you will get sorted ;)

I found it.

In the log file it uses artworkgameex for the bezel and mame and gameexlite use artworkpreview. I changed that and it works perfectly now. On some machines I need to go into mame video settings and direct that to upright in place or cocktail but its good now.

Thank-you for your help, This front end is beginning to work very well. Now I'll attempt to add more emulators.
