[RESOLVED] Slow video performance

I have upgraded my machine from windows xp 64bit to windows 7 i'm running crt_emu_driver and ati 4xxx series video card on crt tv and Gameex as my fronted.But all i get is lagy video performance when scrolling through menu it's just slow and not snapy as on xp..The question is can i improve it somehow or i'm doomed and will get this lagy menu's..What's the probelm with win 7 ? I have all the updates installed so if anybody know how to fix this let me know...Thank you

What codecs are you running? Windows 7 and up work, but Shark007 standard 32 bit are preferred.

Is your .net framework all up to date?

Have you tried running the last official catalyst release for your 4000 series card. I believe it is ~~13.1~~.

13.9 actually

Without seeing your .ini all we can do is guess. See this thread for how to ask for help.

I have all important updates installed on my machine including net framework...

I have CRT_EMU_DRIVER instaled for my graphic card wich is based on catalyst 13.1

I made fresh install of Gameex so i have new ini files

Do you have the full Catalyst suite installed including the Gaming Evolved Client by Raptr? Please read this thread if so, try uninstalling it as instructed, then report back here with your results.

There isn't a problem with GameEx and Windows 7.

I understand you have CRT_EMU_DRIVER from your first post, and that it's tailored for lower resolution CRT based monitors. Aside from being third party, it is also based on a driver that is nearly 2 1/2 years old, so you may at least want to consider trying the last officiail release.

You don't mention which codecs you're running, but judging from your comments it sounds like default windows.

What systems are you running, is this laggy video across the board, or only on select emus? There have been recent posts of laggy videos with console emu's, while MAME remains unaffected.

Whether it's a fresh install or not, the .ini may provide insight and clues as to why you are experieincing issues. Obviously it's ultimately up to you if want to provide this information, or try any of the suggestions, but without them, helping you troubleshoot will be difficult at best.

Thanks for all the replies

-Draco i don't have Catalyst suite installed just acustom video driver

-I had windows default codecs and as recommended i have installed Shark007 standard 32 bit package

-Tried to install Catalyst 13.9 and result are good when not running on crt tv..Displayed on LCD screen in native resolution the lagy performance is gone

-Reverted to crt_emudriver which is based on catalyst 13.1 and tried to run it on LCD in native resolution the lag is gone gameex runs fine in high resolution

-Problems are when running on crt_emudriver in low resolution ie 640x480 interlaced the there is slight delay when browsing or scrolling through the menus...My guess it has something to do with a refresh rate or the display being interlaced i don't know i'm no expert..

-What's suprising on same hardware but on XP it does run as well as on LCD in native resolution

-I'm kind of desperate now i want to use gameex but it's just annoying to have lagy performance

-I'm appending Gameex.ini

Nothing jumps out at me with your config.

Just doing some quick reading on this, I don't run a CRT, and so I'm unfamiliar with the crt_emudriver, and its use.

Are you running the updated version

Hopefully someone with CRT experiecnce and 4000 series cards like uman, will jump in here.

I have the updated verison of Vmmaker and Arcade OSD installed and running but what's important is the driver which runs fine i have no problems displaying anything else..The isue is the Gameex and i guess low refresh rate or correct if i'm wrong ?

Also, you could try turning off the sleep setting under tweaks performance.

I am guessing GameEx is running at 30fps.

I think you are right about it running 30 fps exactly half the speed it should run because in windows 640x480 shows as 30 hz interlaced ??

I have tried to turn off the sleep setting but for sake i can't find it i have checked under tweaks / performance nothing there i must be blind ?

Allright thanks for showing me how to

I have chnged to no - Started gameex and it's still running slow

Also when i select under performance level to high or very high and i close the wizard it reverts back to medium that's weird ?

Basically it is to be expected. If your display is running at 30hz then GameEx will run at 30 fps. It will vsync every 33.33 ms.

Is it choppy or just slow?

You could also try turning off vsync.

OK that did the trick turning vsync off now it's fast and snapy as before...
