Buzzin69
So I figured I would finally share my Bar-Cade with the rest of the Community. It has been a software nightmare (as you will see), because I wanted to build a cab and no one seemed to do it like I did. It is a work in progress (debating of what to do with the third monitor, it is just sitting on top of my backglass for now lol).I did this cab in 4 days at 10-12 hours a day.Weill on to the pics.....Post any questions and I will do my best to answer Started with this..... But took up to much room and the kids weren't really "into" it, so I figured I would downsize.I wanted an Arcade, but I also wanted Pinball.... So time to rebuild.I didn't have any tools except a jigsaw, drill, and sander.I also didn't draw anything out, had a picture in my mind and mocked it up as I went.A little patch work, and a backglass Coming together nicely I think. My Son and I laying the paint and clear coat on.Looking glossy . You can see I wanted a Hybrid cab.The Belly of the beast...Need to add some more pics later, but here is a pick with GameEx (all emulators and Mame run on playfield) and with PinballXI also have Kodi (xbmc) installed. Still, hashing some issues out with Marquee Magician, but getting there Thanks for taking the time to check it out I am TRYING to move up the Competition Leader Board, so today I build and installed a spinner. I, however, forgot that I was mediocre at best on Arkanoid lol.
tthurman
Both builds look really good! Love your spray booth and those table legs What wheel are you using?
Buzzin69
Thanks tthurman, I used locking furniture castors in order to make it semi-portable (in house of course lol)
tthurman
The steering wheel in the cab before the rebuild, is it just usb?
Buzzin69
Yea, i bought a throwaway from a thrift store for $8 and tore it apart. Also the trackball was a spray can cap and a ball modded to an optical mouse.
Buzzin69
Sorry just noticed furst pic was pre-trackball lol
tthurman
That's a creative trackball design for sure.I don't know how you brought yourself to get rid of your control panel, that Roland overlay looks great IMO, and one nobody else has!Regardless, the repurposing job could looks as if it was built that way to start with. Hope you get the software kinks worked out in short order so you can start enjoying it.I'm guessing the SONY CRT was relinquished to other duties. What are your playfiled and BG screen sizes?Killer looking builds I'd be proud to say I built in both cases, thanks for sharing!!!
Buzzin69
I was a tough call, I'll admit, but I just didn't have the room anymore The Playfield is 32" LCD TV, the 2 BG Screens are a 17" and 20" monitor. (Both BG Screens were $15 each at the thrift store)Here are some pics with the "trackball" to give a better idea.I had to reverse the Y-axsis in the games though because Up and Down were backwards doing it like this. Still, better than $100

Mame Offender
My brother Cynicaster built a stand up cabinet and can probably relate to the different obstacles that you must overcome to get the entire thing exactly the way you want it. The pinball layout scores huge points on originality! The 6 button layout is ideal for retro games. Simple, yet perfect.Thumbs up on your machine.
Buzzin69
Thanks MO, The biggest obstacle was incorporating PinballX INSIDE of GameEx. Where I had a lot of trouble was with Display ID's and Focus. I have a few subscripts running that solved all that. Now I am working some kinks out on Marquee Magician. I am also in the process of updating to MAME 155 and adding Dinput so I can use the Hi Score Grabber plugin for the Awesome Arcade Competition sub-forum
hansolo77
Drool.I want a pincab so bad. But I also want a stand up arcade cab too. You have the best of both worlds. Perhaps you should name your setup Pin-Cade instead of Bar-Cade. Unless you got a bar hidden inside.

Buzzin69
It works well, just need to calibrate it on a game to game basis lol. Ya, I can't sit still for long lol. BTW love your Star Wars Yolk! That is some skill brother
Mame Offender
Wow, its coming along, Buzz. You have Happ 8way competition s in there? Also do you find the trackball gives you a perfect roll? The one I use in an X Arcade panel is good, but not perfect.
Buzzin69
It is, I do, and i think the trackbal is ALMOST perfect. I would probably get better resolution if my "ball" was flat black, or if i hit with 600 sandpaper, but i just love the marble look. So will see how it plays for awhile first 😉
