Colecovision controls with Meka emulator

Hi all!!

I'm trying to configure Meka as my Colecovion emulator.

The problem is that i can't configure correctly the controls.

I have 2 xbox pads for my emulators, when i try to configure the second pad on Meka, i not recognize it.

I'm trying to map the keyboard keys for this emulator, but i don't know what keys i need to map.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Well first a disclaimer, I've only ever used Meka for emulating Sega systems, and even then I transferred over to Fusion. So at least in terms of configuring the emulator itself, I'm going to direct you here. (That particular tutorial is for Sega systems, but I have to assume that ColecoVision configuration would be similar. I believe that's the same guide I used when I set up Meka - many moons ago).

In terms of the ColecoVision controller itself ... ugh ... the design of that controller hails from an unfortunate era in home video game consoles in which designers thought it would be a great idea to pattern controllers after touch tone telephones. Yuck. I'll say right up front that Xpadder (which is my personal favorite when used in conjunction with Adultery's Xpadder plugin), Pinnacle Game Profiler, or other similar controller mapping software is going to be practically essential for this purpose.

In practice what this means in terms of configuring your controllers is that it's very difficult to map a "touch-tone telephone" type of controller to another type of controller (i.e. your Xbox 360 controllers) and have it feel right, particularly so if you're attempting to devise a universal configuration that will feel right for every game. Due to the fact that some games use every button on that unwieldy controller, and some of them only use one, I often find myself making several game specific configurations in order for games to play in a way that feels proper. This is where the combination of Xpadder and Adultery's plugin come in exceedingly handy, being that the plugin will allow you to create game specific controller configs, and launch them automatically through GameEx.

If Meka continues to be a headache, I can recommend ColEm as a solid ColecoVision emulator on the basis of quality emulation, although I must confess that I've never attempted to integrate it into my GameEx setup due to the problems described above.

I totally agree with your comment Null, also I think it is a big headache configure some of the emulators of old consoles and this one in particular ....

Really I just want to configure movement controls and buttons trigger / action. The rest of the keypad can do with my keyboard.

Another problem I am encountering with Meka it seems that does not support full screen with Colecovision (although I have it configured). When you enter Full Screen, emulation stops. Only works in windowed mode.

I'll take a look at Colem emulator, and see if I can at least get set Xppader for 2 players.

I will comment the results.

Thank you very much Null.

Thanks for your advice, but for now I will try with less complex emulators.
