Mame not showing all games

Recommended Posts

Hi all!!!

I've configured mame and only can see a few games on the list.

I think there is no filter enabled or something similar, apart of the default filter (Japan;Korea;Asia;Bootleg;French;German;Hack;Prototype;Hardware;(Easy;(harder)

I only see 90 games on the list.... I have the 0.155 set.

Attached are my config files and log.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Adultery!!!

I can not confirm you this now, but I think have seeing some games at almost all the letters. It is not stop on the "C" letter.

It is very rare.

The first games that appear on the list, are not what would expect from a complete list of MAME. It is as if some kind of filter is active.

Very odd indeed ....

I will confirm Carnevil from tonight.

Try setting the only working games to false in the set up wizard and do the same in the mameui64 setup list on the left I had this problem with mameui64 and just ended up installing command line mame as the guys here suggested. Once you figure out how to create the mame.ini folder it's easy from there.

Just suggesting to make sure in the mame emulator itself you can see all the games in your list as you can sort them by working or missing files or your games list etc. there should tell you what you have and what are working. Not sure if one has anything to do with the other as I don't use it but have played around with that gui setup a little

All my games are correctly listed inside mameui64 emulator. The problem is on Gameex.

Of course, i made a update list on mameui before updating list on Gameex.

Thanks in advance for help.

Is "Verify Roms" enabled? If so disable it and update.

Hi Thurman!!!

I tried it enabled and disabled.... when enabled the updating process take a loooooonnnnggg time to finish..... I decided to disable it.... I don't know if this can affect to the total list....

You know I was having some trouble with all my games showing when I updated my game list a little while back and found that with Win 8.1 x64 I had to set GameEx to "Run As Admin" then tried updating the list and then all my games showed up.

I tried the Verify Roms setting and still got same results until I set GameEx to "Run As Admin" then the list displayed all the games.

OMG, i will try it and comment the results.... It could be the reason, but i don't understand why Gameex shows only a few games....

When you set verify Roms to false try changing as i said before change only working Roms to false and update list also to see if at least the whole mame game list shows up

I will try it and comment.

Thanks sms!!

Bad news.... :(

Set admin privileges to GameEx: Done

Set remove duplicates to "No": Done

Set verify Roms to false: Done

Set only working Roms to false: Done

Update list: done

The result is that now i have 145 games instead 90... but this is a very little number....

When i update mame list on Gameex, i can see the process and when is creating the files it counts to about 11000 games.... I think the updating process is correct, but for some reason gameex is not showing the entire collection...

I don't know what to try now....

Attached my config files with new configuration

EDIT: in the mameui64 emulator i have a 29162 games on the avaliable list on the left.... If it could help to solve the problem....

Ok i think i found the reason of that.....

It's about the touchscreen. I had the option "only compatible games" enabled

Now i have a large list, but i need to see if there is another option to show more games or this is the final list....

Sorry for the inconvenience.... :( I will comment the results. I need to see more deep on the setup wizard.

Thanks all for your kindly help.

This is my opinion only, but go grab vanilla 0.155s (unless you've moved onto 0.156) better yet use headkaze's new compiler add the hi_score diff to your downloads prefrences, compile, apply the diff, and let it do the work for you.

I've just had so many better results with vanilla mame, and judging from many others, so have they, so unless you have a specific reason to run MAMEUI, don't IMO.

How many games are you showing? GameEx will cut out quite a few of the games that are actually mechanical games and not true arcade games.

I have 3932 games on my list now.... I don't know if this is correct, but i think is a good number.

FYI you can get a nice clean list at around the 6,000 mark, which includes clones. Trust me when i say the rest is garbage (mahjong, casino etc) or mechanical stuff. To get the extra 2K try removing Japan; from the filter. You may not be aware, but Japan versions of roms are often quite different from the parents/US/EU versions, often harder, or have different rules etc ;)

And +1 for vanilla MAME. GX has no need for the extra layer of a UI, and in my opinion handles MAME better than all of them :)

I wouldn't actually recommend filtering Japan because in some cases it is the parent like in Double Dragon for instance.

Also, you lose the ability to play some games entirely because no other region of them exists.
