Numiah2
Hi,Although I posted in another thread, I thought it might be a better idea to start a new thread. In short : She won't run In long : I can't get it to work I decided to give PinballX a chance as it looks better supported and is still under development.I'm on WinXP SP3 in my cab. Sufficient memory and she usually purrs like a kitten and runs everything I throw at her.Followed the tutorial down to the letter.Only thing I did different was installing another version of the Shark Codecs.I had to, because the one that is linked to in the tutorial is for win7 and 8 only. The error in the log looks like this :15:38:38.0 4/6/2014: PinballX - Version 1.7715:38:38.0 4/6/2014: Loading Settings15:38:38.0 4/6/2014: Initialize Component15:38:38.1 4/6/2014: Initialize Display15:38:38.1 4/6/2014: Error. My cab is working perfectly after tweaking it till the bone.Perhaps there are some dependent services not running, but I don't know which ones would need to be started. If you need other info, I'd be happy to supply. Thanks in advance for helping me out. Draco1962
Your log file shows you are running 1.77. EIther you have provided an old log file and need to provide a new one post 1.78 upgrade or will need to reinstall 1.78 again, run PinballX again, and provide the updated log.txt. Thanks! Numiah2
Ah, very sharp I indeed used an older log. Here's the more current one.Same error though.20:14:34.1 4/14/2014: PinballX - Version 1.7820:14:34.1 4/14/2014: Loading Settings20:14:34.1 4/14/2014: Initialize Component20:14:34.2 4/14/2014: Initialize Display20:14:34.2 4/14/2014: Error. Tom Speirs
Should be fixed in the attached. You will lose instructions support.PinballX.zip
zeenon
Tom is this a flash error? The reason I ask is because back in the day when I ran hyperpin, I could not get the instruction cards to work for nothing. Turns out you needed to install flash for internet explorer, and I was using Firefox all along. Once I install flash for ie, the instruction cards worked. Installing flash under Firefox did not help, and after installing flash for ie, I never used ie again on the cab.You know more about the internal workings of PBX so my post maybe totally unrelated. Tom Speirs
Yes it is a flash error. It would be worth trying to install flash for ie. Still, I would like PX still to at least work even if there is a flash issue. It was partly doing it but now it will completely.
zeenon
Just in case those with the problem want to take a shot at it, here are the comments from the Hyperpin threads. (Note this is what fixed HP, not PBX but it's worth a shot)"I figured it out. I did not know that Hyperpin used Internet Explorer to display the card instructions. I had installed the flash player and plugin into Mozilla but not to IE.""All fixed it seems I was using the wrong version of autohotkey. Must use the anci 32 version not Unicode."Z
Numiah2
Thanks for looking into it Tom.I tried the new .exe, but no difference. Only difference is that there is nog .log file created?I already updated flash last week. (flash is working btw when hyperpin is calling it for the instruction cards)
Tom Speirs
You did extract the file and replace PinballX.exe in your install folder didn't you?
Numiah2
Of course Weird huh?
Tom Speirs
So you delete log.txt and it is not creating a new one although launches? Yes, that's odd, and it has to be on your end. It works fine here.
Numiah2
When I use the original .exe it creates a log.But when I use the other .exe you provided, no log is created and she still doesn't boot.Ah well, perhaps when I upgrade the cab to win7 in the future, I can give it another try.Hyperpin has been treating me good thus far, I was just curious about PinballX. Tom Speirs
No worries. I released 1.79 yesterday. Is that any better?
Numiah2
Thanks, your help is appreciated.I removed the older version and removed all remaining registry settings.Performed a clean install of 1.79.To no avail...This version isn't creating the log file as well.I'll try rolling back to 1.78 to see if it's still able to create the log file.Edit : Tried 1.79 on my main computer and of course it instantly works and even creates a log. Draco1962
If it isn't writing the log file can you verify that you have full read/write permissions for the PinballX directory and all child directories and files?
