I have two control panels. One with a trackball and quite a different layout. My question is how can I set up two different configs for mame so that I can keep my button settings for each game. For example, if I set certain buttons to work with asteroids and I then switch panels, mame needs to be reconfigured for the new panel every time I switch. I was thinking of creating two separate mame installs one for each panel, but then I won't be able to keep my high scores.
Any ideas?

Why wouldn't you be able to keep your high scores? If you set up the same EXE with different emulators, wouldn't it still use the same support files?
