Thanks everyone for the help. I was having problems with SSF as well. The old style command line was working (using the launch before and launch after), but I GamEx was freezing upon exit of the emulator. It was sticking on the play this game/add to favorites page. I changed to the new way (had to use gamepimp's command line: SSF.EXE [-VIRTUALDRIVE-]) However, I am still experiencing the GamEx freeze in the same spot. Any help would be appreciated.

A strange revision. If I click the left mouse button upon returning to GamEx, I can use the mouse. Arrow keys and backspace do not work. If I use the mouse to go back, select another emulator, chose a game, and then exit back to GamEx, the controls come back. This is fine for setting everything up, but when I finish and put the computer into my dedicated cab, I wont have a mouse. Please help.

I separated this from the previous [RESOLVED] issue since it is not quite the same issue and so it will not get lost.

If there are problems while exiting, perhaps the emulator is conflicting by the way it's closed by GameEx. Maybe try an advanced config to send the correct exit keys to close the emulator cleanly and see if that resolves the issue.

Thanks Draco, I wasnt sure if I should start a new thread or attach to the other related one.

I have been playing around with the advanced config, but Im not sure how to go about changing how SFF closes.

It seems that pressing ESC closes this emulator so you have you tried simply pressing escape to see if the issue can be duplicated?

If I press escape in any emulator, it returns me to GamEx. This is how I exit an emulator and return to GamEx to choose another game or emulator. I'm not sure what you're asking me to do that is different than my normal operation.

How does everyone else quit an emulator and return to GamEx? Maybe this is where Im running into trouble.

Not sure why there are no further responses after my last one.

I changed the Advanced Config around a couple of times. I tried the (ALT+F4) and it worked to exit SFF. However, GamEx returns locked up. So the Esc key is not the culprit.

The letter keys still work, If I press them, they scroll trough the description according to the first letter of the lines shown. But the arrows and back keys are frozen.

I'm thinking this has something to do with SFF exiting and Daemon tools lite unmounting the image while GamEx is returning. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If you have been following the forums, it is possible that your response was lost amidst the other issues being reported or requests for assistance.

You may want to post examples of the config you are using, the log.txt file immediately following your exit attempt from SSF. I haven't as much experience as some of the other members with this emulator. I do know that sometimes an emulator requires a "run after" command to be utilized to clean up processes after exiting some emulators. Possibly something to unmount the image and close DT Lite and pausing until the process is complete before returning to GameEx?

Have you reviewed this thread to see if anything here may apply to your situation?

Thanks for the response. I reviewed that thread prior to setting up SSF. I actually did a search and looked over a few threads involving the emulator before attempting to set it up.

The games mount and play fine. The emulator exits correctly. GamEx returns to it's screen. But my backspace and arrows are locked.

If I stop the emulator on the Saturn splash screen, before the game mounts, GamEx returns in normal working condition. There is only a problem if the image is mounted and then I exit and return to GamEx.

Here is the log.txt file:

Have you tried any of the other Saturn emulators? EDIT: previously mentioned Kega Fusion but it does not support - needless to say I am not emulating Saturn or other Sega systems just yet.

I so wish Kega Fusion managed to emulate SS as I had my share of fumbling through getting SSF to actually work myself.

Maybe its a focus issue. Idk. Have you added a process wait for a few seconds after exit maybe it will unlock the keys? Just a guess here folks.

I tried un-installing and re-installing Daemon Tools lite: NoJoy.

This block of the log catches my attention:
21:59:26.6 2/18/2012: Refreshing Keyboard
21:59:26.8 2/18/2012: Initialising Audio
21:59:26.8 2/18/2012: Relaunching HideOS
21:59:27.0 2/18/2012: Restoring Window
21:59:27.0 2/18/2012: Reinitializing Graphics System
21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: 21 Consecutive Exceptions Occured
21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: at o.a()
21:59:27.3 2/18/2012: at ag.ad()
The Keyboard is refreshed. 21 consecutive exceptions sounds ominous. I don't really understand most of it, but it does sound negative.

Also, I'm not sure which commands to put in the launch after box in order to add a timer.

I gave up. The problem began occurring with other emulators, Atari was the second. I uninstalled and reinstalled GamEx. Now the problem is gone. It did re-occur when I started playing with map settings, but stopped again suddenly.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Only about 20 to 30 minutes to re-setup the entire thing. I'm only running 13 emulators, so that helped. I've also been working on creating a theme of my own, so the time spent with that has increased my familiarity with GamEx.
