Is there a way to display the list of games by the name of the game, instead of the zipfile name? I'm trying GameEx for the first time, I was a long time mameui/mame32 user.

I can't believe I couldn't find the answer, but thank you in advance.

Depends on your setup. You can set it up in MAME and not worry about it or set it up as an emulator and use a map file. In other words we need more info from you.

Well, it's a brand new set up. This is the first time I've configured or even used MAME since 2006 or so. In Mame32 there was an option that allowed you to show names, or show filenames. So if you're looking at Mr Do!, you could either have it show "Mr. Do!" or the zip name, "mrdo". Right now, in the game list inside of GameEX, it's showing as "mrdo", and I'd like to have it show up as "Mr. Do!". Is there any way to do this? I'm not sure what you mean by set it up in MAME, last time I used MAME it was a dos command line only with no interface, and everything was set up inside of MAME32. When you say "set it up as an emulator and use a map file" I'm not sure what that means. I'm running GameEX as the front end, and I'm assuming it's using the command line to start the MAME application.

Can you let me know what information you need?

I think I follow you. :)

Well, for starters, you should go into Setup Wizard and look under the MAME section.

If this is a brand new setup, you can just do a basic setup by selecting "basic" and go from there.

Here is a good place to get started for sure. ;)

Not sure why the old instructions are still online?

The newer instructions are available here

I did end up figuring this out. I think it's kind of weird though. If I click on "Emulators" and then choose "Arcade - Mame" it will show the list in zipnames. But if I go to MAME instead of Emulators, it will give me a list of games, after I updated the game list.

I'm sure it's just something I need to do a little different, but no big deal.

And yes, I used the older instructions when I set everything up for the first time, so I may have done a few things without documentation because it wasn't in the original instructions. (There were a few times when options were there that weren't in the documentation, but I just assumed the docs were never updated)

Either way, thank you very much for your assistance.
