OK, this fixed vista codecs for me. Under shark codec settings > AVI. Change splitter to use Microsoft.

Interestly on Win 7 codecs it is set to Microsoft by default but not on vista codecs.
Sent you the gameex.ini and a karaoke folder with a zipped and a unzipped song.

Interesting thought :
The karaoke zip is 4.79 mb. In the copiedvideo folder it is 3.37 mb
The karaoke unzipped is 4.39 mb. In the copiedvideo folder it is 4.39 mb

The gentleman who recently registered will be running only karaoke on GameEx. He has about 900 songs.
If Gameex doesn't delete the songs from the copiedvideo folder after use. Then he will double the space he takes up running karaoke.

I realise it could potentially take up a couple of GB but the new video player is so much slicker. So I think its worth it.

@Tom - Can the Karaoke be setup with an option to "Launch After" like the emulators? That way, the end user could create and run a simple batch file to delete the files from the path if they choose to do so when space is at a premium?

Could you make it an optional, selectable feature? If there is benefit (speed, etc.) in having it preserve a copy, some may prefer it if space is not an issue.

Got home and ran everything on my xp setup. The vista codec that was on this computer was about 45 days old. When I checked setup in this version Microsoft is checked. When I exited the setup for the codec it recommended I removed this version and install the newest version. I installed it and had to go in to this version and check Microsoft. When running karaoke on this slower machine, the results were.

unzipped karaoke play in preview, with sound and video but takes about a minute to load first time. About there 30 seconds after that when scrolling. Video and sound plays when selected.

zipped karaoke play in preview, with sound and video but takes about 5 minutes to load first time. About half that when scrolling. Video plays when selected, but no sound.

So you're caching all the files for previews and it will only delete upon exit of GameEx?

Yes, just Karaoke though and only when they are accessed.

If its a different zip that has no sound please upload it to me.

Was one of the zipped I uploaded already. Interesting it plays on the vista machine at work but not the xp at home. Sound plays in preview but not when you select the song Any zipped song doesn't play in xp. Sound plays in preview for zipped.

Sorry took so long to get back, Tom., I installed the latest gameex on two different xp machines of mine. Both have the same shark codex. The faster of the two machines plays fine. The slower of the two machine plays previews fine for zipped or unzipped songs,, but the songs that are on zipped take longer to start the preview. When play the song that are zipped I get no sound. If I unzip them they sound is fine. Gonna chalk up the problem to the speed of the machine and consider this solved.
