I just loaded Gameex and went to the game menu. when I click on All Mame Games, I get the following on the Screen: "UPDATING GAME LIST: GAMEEX IS UPDATING THE MAME GAME LIST: PLEASE WAIT.... READING LISTINFO.DAT (25%). In the backround is the Gameex backround screen. the screen stays like that until I go to the task manager and manually exit out of this screen. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it

How long is it staying there? An update to the list can sometimes take awhile depending on filters. So maybe it's just needing to be given more time to actually update. If not then please provide more info. A log would be helpful. How to post a log can be found on the stickied topic How to ask for Help on the top of the forums.

I had the same problems a while back, but i did a reboot and tried again and it was ok, but as frequency has stated it does take a while mine took nearly an hour the 1st time so please try again and be patient and report back if no joy.

And most important, it SEEMS to be stuck at a certain percentage, rather than proceed on a regular basis. But actually it's doing its work. As stated by fRequEnCy and simbamame, just give it more time. If GameEx really freezes, post your log.

P.S.: Welcome to the forum! :)

This issue can also be caused by an unsupported version of MAME.

In regards to your comment Tom, can you confirm what is the latest supported version of MAME, or the latest version that you recommend seeing how MAME is going through many changes with the latest versions? I had trouble confirming where this information is in the documentation, perhaps I've overlooked something obvious. I think I may have the wrong MAME version installed because Gameex is updating the game list every time I start Gameex which is frustrating because it's a 10 minute process on my machine.

I use MAMEUI64 with the latest 0.144 build with no problems. Can you tell us what version/build of MAME you are using? Also, a copy of your log.txt file following the error may be beneficial in assisting you to resolve this issue.
