  1. So, my girl recently told me that if we just happened to have Karaoke on our media box in the livingroom, it would be SO awesome...so, I guess I am figuring out the world of karaoke... The very first thing I am unsure of is if it matters how I organize the music and cdg files. I have a small sampling of files to start experimenting now, but before the collection grows, I would like to figure out organization. Should I worry about folders for artists, albums, genres, etc? I will be starting out using the GameEx karaoke functionality, but if I do come across a more feature-rich karaoke program for a good price, I may switch over to it. The second question is about naming conventions. I have seen some sites that say to be consistant with file naming. One suggested "DiscID-SongNumber - Song Title - Artist Name". Is there a 'best' naming convention to go with? Also, if anyone has a suggestion on a good affordable or free karaoke song management program, I would be interested.
  2. Hi, I'm trying to reorganize my Cab, and im at my Karaoke section right now. I use a MAP file to show a clean list in GameEx but I would really love to use a Database file so people could sort by Song Title or by Artist my files are named like this; Artist@SongTitle^Category.zip I use the @ and the ^ symbols so I can keep a clean list in an EXCEL file, that can do things like make my MAP file. My Map File looks like this; Artist@SongTitle^Category.zip|SongTitle by Artist I've tried many times to make a Database File (mdb) but I can't seem to make it work. i put the FILENAME in the NAME column and in the GOODNAME column, the ARTIST in DEVELOPERS COLUMN and the CATEGORY in CATEGORY column, but in GameEX I still get the name in the MAP file. I see the options for DELVELOPER, CATEGORY, YEAR etc but when I select any, the list is empty. Im using Microsoft Access and have tried MDBPLUS, but if there is a better solution, please point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help
  3. I have Windows XP and Direct X 9.0c installed. Lastest version of GameEx installed. Video previews and music play in GameEx when selected on song, but when launched screen goes blank and then can hear the mp3 playing No Video showing lyrics. If I double click a .cdg file in my Karaoke folder Media Player launches and it looks fine. I have tried WmpFull also to eliminate an issue with Windows media player and same issue. I am not sure what else to try. Have installed LavFilters also and no changes. Looking for suggestions on what to check next. Thanks.
  4. I hate for my first post here to be a help request, but this problem has got me stumped. I'm currently running Gameex Version 14.10, and have been trying to get the karaoke feature working for a week now. I've got the paths correct, and the karaoke files show up in the karaoke menu. The lyrics show up in the preview pane when highlighting songs, yet when I click the play song button, Gameex fades out and then returns to the song select screen. Looking in the logs, I noticed this nasty message: 11:56:54.8 10/5/2015: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.11:56:54.8 10/5/2015: at DirectShowLib.IFilterGraph2.RenderFile(String lpcwstrFile, String lpcwstrPlayList)11:56:54.8 10/5/2015: at bf.b(String A_0)11:56:55.3 10/5/2015: Unable to open video I currently have VLC installed, and that plays the karaoke files just fine. I've tried downgrading Gameex to 13.32, and changing my theme back to the default one, both to no avail. I'm positive this error is due to the handling of the cdg files, as attempting to play a cdg without a corresponding mp3 throws the same error. Log and config are attached.GameEx.ini log.txt
  5. I would like to get Karaoke set up at my house, but I'm not sure what kind of hardware will have to buy. If anyone could help me out, that would be great! I have the songs on my hard drive consisting of mp3 and cdg files and that all works fine. I plugged in a rockband USB microphone to my PC and I got it working just using my PC speakers, but obviously it sounds pretty horrible. So in order to make it sound good for home use, I know i have to buy a mixer and possibly new speakers w/reciever (and maybe a better microphone and sound card). I have these speakers right now for my home theater, but i'm not sure if they're good enough since i heard that Karaoke can ruin some speakers that aren't designed for singing. http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support-product/lg-LH-E932TB# It's basically a reciever, sub, and 5 speakers. The speakers are all 155W and the sub is 255W. They work pretty well when we play rockband... so if I can use these speakers, that would be ideal since I don't want to spend any more than I would have to in order to have a somewhat respectable home karaoke setup. I know the professional guys spend a lot of money on their setups, but I just want something that will be fun for family and friends at the house. I also have these PC speakers: Logitech Z-5300e THX Certified 5.1 280-watt Speaker System http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Z-5300e-THX-Certified-280-Watt-Surround/dp/B0002SQ0AE So where should I go from here? What is a good mixer to buy that will do the job but wont be too expensive? Should I get new speakers or will one of my existing sets of speakers work? I'm guessing I have to get microphones that will plug into a mixer because i'm assuming the mixer wont have a usb plug for my rockband mics (and maybe it's worth it to spend a bit of money on a reasonable quality microphone). And do I need any speical sound card? I think my sound card is alright because my friend built me this PC maybe 4 years ago, but it's probably nothing speical. But I think I'm fine in terms of the software but I'm a bit lost when it comes to knowing what hardware I should buy. How much do you think everything will end up costing for a standard home karaoke setup?
