  1. Hi gameex nuts! Ever since i first downloaded (and subsequently) registered gameex i have been on an eternal mission to turn my front room into a gaming haven (and also piss off my girlfriend although she wasn't complaining when i fired up Pandemonium!) Anyways since i am using my PC primarily as a gaming machine i am finding it increasingly difficult to justify having a keyboard and mouse on my lap when i could just use my Xbox 360 pad. So i was wondering if there was a way to map the alphabet to one button of my gamepad for text input (similar to how a mobile phone handles text input with one key representing 3 letters) so i can take advantage of the great search feature that Tom has introduced. I had a go at trying to map keys using Xpadder but as far as i know that only supports cycles and that doesn't really work for me. I was thinking maybe autohotkey could offer the solution although i must admit that i am absolutely useless at scripts, i had a go but just ended up with gibberish. If there is anyone out there with a knowledge of scripts that could point me in the right direction i would be really grateful as i think this would be a great addition to gameex in general (until microsoft finally lives up to its promises and releases the drivers for the chatpad ) Thanks for reading my ramblings and i hope that there is someone who can take pity on a computer illiterate gameex user! P.S Maybe an on-screen virtual keyboard would be a good idea for the next release? Just thinking out loud!
  2. Sorry about the lateness of my reply!! As for the MSX command line that was spot on so thanks for that! Although i would also like to know how to get rid of the message screens at the start, MESS keeps telling me that my roms are incorrect although they all work fine. But as for the Lynx problems, neither seemed to work for me zipped or unzipped it just keeps crashing back to gameex which is really annoying! Was considering switching to handy but i don't like how small the screen is in fullscreen mode. Anyway thank you for your input any other ideas on how to get the lynx to work? Thanks again for your help!
  3. Hi everyone, Having a few problems with some emulators that I hope you could help with. First off MESS, i have no trouble using mess for Atari 7200 etc. But when i try to use it for Microsoft MSX it just basically crashes back to gameex straight away (doesn't even load the emu) my command line is mess.exe msx -cart "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -joy -now -nonewui This is the one that is used in the Gameex setup wizard but i am having no luck. Secondly Mednafen just crashes back to gameex in a similar fashion to MESS when i try to launch atari lynx roms. Command line: mednafen.exe -fs 1 "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" This happens although other systems such as gameboy advance work without a hitch using this emu through gameex. Heres my gameex config for further reference. GameEx.txt Thanks in advance as always, and i hope you can help me out!
  4. I think the answer your looking for can be found in this thread.. http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...l=MSN+Messenger As you'll see it went a bit of topic, but at least i can play halflife 2 with an Xbox pad now!
  5. Your right I never knew that option existed! Wonder how that happened then? It just randomly stopped playing music one day. Anyway thanks a lot for the help that one was really starting to bug me! P.S Thanks for the love
  6. Tried both suggestions (change theme, read tags) but neither have worked my WMP plays music with no problems as well really stumped! Heres a copy of my jukebox config. EnableJukeBox=True JukeBoxPlaylist= EnableMediaControls=True ShufflePlayLists=True LoadPlayListAtStartup=False LoadPlayListThread=False DownloadArt=True My Gameex Config here: GameEx.txt Can you notice anything wrong?
  7. Hi all, Decided to post my problem in a bitesized nuggets rather than bombard you with several (see my last post!) Basically my jukebox refuses to play music at all (which sucks a bit for a jukebox!) What happens is when i enter my jukebox nothing happens at all even though i have the jukebox config set to automatically play music upon entering the menu, when i try to choose a song nothing happens again even though i have the settings as "clicking instantly plays track" I thought that maybe WMP 11 had something to do with it so i rolled back to WMP10 but with no joy. The only way i got music to play was when i was in visualisation mode. Any ideas? Thanks in Advance
  8. Hey, Go a few things fixed, PJ64 is just that old chestnut of removing the quotes from the command line. Freedo has been fixed using the closemul method (which is available on the submitted configs section in the forum) Znes has been fixed in the lastest release (thanks tom!) I think your right project tempest is definately not worth the hassle!
  9. Hi all! Just a small list of things that I'm having trouble with in gameex. 1) Project 64 1.6 gives me an "Unable to open file" error. When i open Roms through the PJ 64 gui everything works fine, but when i drag and drop a file on to Project 64 .exe it gives me the same error, any ideas? 2) Gameex crashes when i try to access my SNES roms with the following error. 22:24:08.0 27/04/2008: Trying reinitialising the display after sleeping for 4 seconds 22:24:08.0 27/04/2008: Exception count will be dropped to 15 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: --**-- 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: 21 Consecutive Exceptions Occured: Exiting 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: Closing database connection 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: First Exception: 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings.Mid(String str, Int32 Start, Int32 Length) 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: at l.b(Int32 A_0) 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: at l.a(Boolean A_0, Int32 A_1, String A_2, String A_3, String A_4, Boolean A_5, Boolean A_6, Boolean A_7) 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: at l.l() 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: at l.au() 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: Last Exception: 22:24:16.8 27/04/2008: Argument 'Length' must be greater or equal to zero. 22:24:16.9 27/04/2008: at Microsoft.VisualBasic.Strings.Mid(String str, Int32 Start, Int32 Length) 22:24:16.9 27/04/2008: at l.b(Int32 A_0) 22:24:16.9 27/04/2008: at l.a(Boolean A_0, Int32 A_1, String A_2, String A_3, String A_4, Boolean A_5, Boolean A_6, Boolean A_7) 22:24:16.9 27/04/2008: at l.l() 22:24:16.9 27/04/2008: at l.au() No idea what the problem is here! 3) CD-i Emulator What? 4) Freedo How? 5) Project Tempest Huh? Can't get any of these to work for love nor money!! 6) Jukebox doesn't play audio... nuff said 7) MSX running through MESS jsut crashes back to Gameex, heres my command line: mess.exe msx -cart "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" -joy -now -nonewui 8) The same thing with the Atari Lynx (running through mednafen) command line:mednafen.exe -fs 1 "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]" Note: This command line works with everyting else i use through mednafen GB advance etc. And i think that about it ...(for now!) I know this is a huge list to shift thrugh but if anyone could help i would be very grateful Thanks in Advance
  10. Does no one have an answer for this? I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this out! Another question :-) Can game ex support FLV video files? I've got a few FLVs and would like them to launch in gameex is there a codec for this or can i change my video media player to media player classic? Thanks in advance
  11. Hey all, Since no one had an answer before i though i would give you an update. I found this script on a website RemoteControl.txt (i can't remember where or the author of the script!) But it basically knows what my buttons are and i just need the command lines for gameex e.g the command line to return to the homepage within gameex and everything else. Anyway have a look and see if you can decifer this script! Cheers
  12. That would be a great idea, the only sort of tutorial i could see is the quick start guide on the CP wizard homepage and it makes on mention of PC Games etc. So i'm in support of that!
  13. I'm probably being stupid, Its probably written somewhere right under my nose. But i can't for the life of me figure out how to use CP Wizard! Basically i want to map out my keys for PC Games and the controller image needs to be an Xbox 360 Controller (I know the D-Pads rubbish but i like them!) Also i wanna use IRC but i'll probably be talking to myself eh? Thanks all
  14. You guy su.... I won't say it as now it all work correctly!!! Thanks for all the help, next topic CP Wizard but thats for another day Oh yeah will there be a plugin for MSN Messenger?
  15. Hi all, Thanks so much for all your help, I have finally got these programs to work at the same time!! But, theres another problem... Gameex doesn't give the game enough time to find the CD and load. So what happens i'll click on Doom 3 in gameex it will attempt to load then immediately go back to gameex, a couple of seconds after gameex has reloaded the game will start with gameex still running in the background, so when i exit the game gameex is minimised. Arrrggghhhh!!! Thanks again for your help, does anyone know what i can do to fix this problem? Cheers
