Question 1.

I've noticed setting up my GameEX in the section [Advanced MAME Settings] the mappings for
\DATA\catver.ini
\DATA\nplayers.ini
\DATA\history.dat
\DATA\mameinfo.dat

All linked to my [C:\GameEX] install folder but are these files updated?

Should I be using or downloading the latest and mapping these files to my MAMEUI64
Emulator install folder, with the most recent Versions of these files?

I never really bothered with these mappings since I though GameEX updated these files.
I'm on MAME .138 currently and will be moving to .139 soon.

Question 2.

I've been looking to play that game by Atari "JUNGLEHUNT" and I know my ROMS are updated to .138.
I do have some filters on in GamerEX setup but I cannot find that game?
Here is my [Advanced MAME Settings] in GamerEX.

Use Game Filter : YES
Game Filter : Japan;Korea;Asia;Hispanic;Bootleg;French;German;Hack;Prototype;Hardware
Remove Duplicates : Auto
Don't Filter the ROMS : pacman;splatter
No Adult Games : No Porn Please
No Mahjong Games : No Mahjong Games
No Clones : No Clones unless Better
Show All MAME Games : Yes

When GamerEX starts---> MAME-->All MAME Games---> I get 1 of 2660(Does that sound right with my filters?)
Where is JungleHunt? I see the Rom file in my ROMS folder.

Anyhow thanks for the help.

I had a large post that got deleted when I clicked the wrong thing. :angry:

1) I keep a folder with the version of DAT files that matches my version of MAME. I think Tom keeps these relatively current, but I don't think it's every U* build.

2) I don't see a game by Atari by that name. The closest I see is Taito's "Jungle Hunt" (jungleh, junglehbr). If that's the correct game, then it should show up since it's driver status is "good". My list has more filtered out than yours, but I believe I have over 3000 MAME titles in the list. The only thing I can think of is that you must be using a different rom set version from your version of MAME. Or, if you updated your roms and/or MAME version, have you rebuilt your list?

Response 1. That's what I thought. So I will download them seperatly and map them accordingly to the version of MAME I'm using.

Response 2. Well I have scanned my roms with clrmamepro and everything came out correct as in nothing missing. Even when I ran the audit within
MAMEUI64.exe.

Ok so it was made by Taito , I thought it was Atari...but still I'm not seeing all my Roms as you see more than I, with more filters assigned.

I do have that rom in my folder, let me see if it shows up just using basic MAMEUI64.exe.

EDIT: Well I just checked and the game shows up under MAMEUI64.exe(Using .138 MAMEUI + .138 ROMS)

Jungle Hunt (Brasil)-->junglebr
Jungle Hunt (US)--->jungleh
Jungle King (Japan)-->junglek
Jungle King (Japan, Earlier)-->junglekj2

It says the Us version is a CLONE of "Jungle King(Japan)"..is that why it might not show up in GameEX? I think I have No Clones unless better..but still........

Did you update your list, as BKenobi suggested? If the option isn't available in GameEx, then you have to enable it. Enable\Disable features (2) > Hide update list > NO
An horrid stillness first invades the ear, And in that silence we the Tempest fear.

Yup I keep "updating list" and still missing games it looks like.

Well now I'm confused "BKenobi" hinted he sees more games than I and he has more filters up. I just added "CLONES" based on
my earlier filters posted and the "Jungle Hunt" game shows up.

Earlier I had it set to "No Clones : No Clones unless Better"

Based on just that I now see 3629 ROMS...

I didn't think that game was a CLONE. Now I have games I do not want showing up....Some of the same games with just different names.
Example "In The Hunt"---->"Kaitei Daisensou"

So with Clones I see 3629 MAME games on list and Without it's 2629 MAME games.

"Jungle King (Japan) - junglek" is the parent ROM as mentioned at MAWS. If ever in doubt then you can check the parent/clone relationship at MAWS as well as other sources.

That is the parent ROM.....I was thinking, is there anyone out there "EXCLUIDING Clones" that can actually see this game on their list>?

or maybe see more games than 2629 with same filters as I?

I just wanna make sure I'm seeing what I should be seeing, based on my filters.

I saw something about Jungle King in the MAWS entry, so that's probably what's going on. If the parent is Jungle King and Jungle Hunt (US) is the clone, then it won't show up if you have "No Clones" turned on. This is the same problem with Pacman and Puckman. Puckman is the parent and will show up in the list. Most people recognize Pacman as the parent, but that's actually not true. To get around this, Tom has put Pacman into the excluded filter list by default to help new users find one of the first games everyone wants to try.

The easiest way to get Jungle Hunt into the list is to add "jungleh" to the excluded filter list. After you do that, update the list and it will show up 100%.

Looks like that's what I'll have to do since this was a specific game.....

Do you have Clones on or off, I remember you saying you see more games than I do with more filters set?

Its sounds to me like its working as it should. Most supported MAME games are in fact clones. Thats why I put in the remove duplicates setting, so you get a unique list of games based on your filters and you want clones as well. The no clones unless better mostly only lists parent roms, except on the odd occasion.
