I have a somewhat specialized question about gameex. I am having a problem with setting custom keys because I am using a keyboard that has been remapped through registry changes. Basically I made a keyboard hack to run the arcade control panel I made. I then used a key mapping program to change the buttons to different buttons. For instance pressing left on the joystick presses NumPad4 on the keyboard, I then remapped NumPad4 in windows xp to left arrow. In windows it changes to left arrow and is now recognized as such. When I go to put custom keyboard inputs into GameEx through the setup wizard and click to change left, then click the joystick left, the word left comes up as the input as it should. Only problem is when I actually run GameEx and click left, nothing happens. By trying different keys (I tried remapping the Del key and others) I realized the GameEx is not recognizing the Remapping I did. In my example, GameEx sees the joystick being pressed left as NumPad4 still for some reason. So I guess my question is, where exactly is GameEx listening for keyboard inputs from and does anyone have any idea why it acts differently than every other windows program I open??
P.S. - I also tried changing the settings to direct input but that did not change anything. Also I have to do the remapping because one of the keys used for the joystick is the delete key but GameEx won't allow the delete key to be used for up because it is already used.
Thanks
Edit: Also if there is a way to just disable the delete key from being set to delete games or to remap deleting games to a different key, that could work to.

Well than that won't really work then I guess. Nobody knows why the program won't use the windows key settings? Im using sharp keys (http://www.randyrants.com/2008/12/sharpkeys_30.html) to remap the keyboard through registry hacks but GameEx doesn't use them for some reason.

I just installed the demo of maximus arcade and tried my control panel with that. It works perfectly fine in that program. So I guess unless anyone knows of a way to make GameEx use the windows adjusted scan codes, I might just have to get Maximus arcade. Which is a shame because GameEx has more features that I like. Like play a random game, universal favorites, ect.

This is probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but you could buy an I-pac for $39. As to why your method doesn't work, I can only guess that Tom is reading physical keyboard presses, and bypassing windows altogether.
An horrid stillness first invades the ear, And in that silence we the Tempest fear.
